Nice! I prefer the manual v8 e60's to the v10 m5's.
I have a complete b5 exhaust system that will fit a 540i/545i.
A manual 550i m sport is the one to have but very rare.

i believe they are about the same as my 4.4 at 286, as the larger 4.4 and 4.8 are in the early 300's?

That looks immense. Whack a 520d badge on the back and you can have some fun!

Its ok, but if you want a rare car then the 550 is the one to go for.

Spark plugs are the least of your worries, when you have to change the rocker cover gaskets!!!

Unbolt and remove the nearside engine mount to do the Offside gasket and vice versa to do the other.Tay wrote:Spark plugs are the least of your worries, when you have to change the rocker cover gaskets!!!

The old 540i autos are a bit juicy around town - 15 mpg is about right and they'll average around 24 with 30 mpg on a long steady run.
The N62's love an oil leak but the later ones are better. The 550i M Sport with the DIY box is about the only E60 I can get excited about. The auto is nice as well, and a nicer car than the M5 which I could never get on with.

The 2 min it takes to remove one mount make it quicker than messing about and running the risk of damaging something by not doing it.Tay wrote:Fairone taking the mounts out but that's just extra work when it can be done with out doing that! Just a little awkward not to!!!!
The official repair method is to remove the injector rail but its quicker and easier to remove the opposite mount to the side you are doing.
