Quite naive chap aren't you. Used car salesman tells you his buisness is on it's last knee's and you instantly believe him, taking the low amount he offered and are now having to sell your daily car to cover the rest of the costs....

At least he has offered the bare minimum amount it will cost to repair - a bird in the hand, etc...

Sometimes though, with situations like this you just want it sorted one way or another. So as above the £350 is a decent wedge towards the overall fix. Having had a friend in a very similar situation, which took literally over a year to rectify (he went the legal route). Just depends how quickly the guy wants he’s car back on the road, Only my opinion though.

Ross i'm trying to think of a measured response but I think i'll settle on piss off.
I was joking about the Mazda and its a measured decision based on the cost to my time and limited patience I genually could think of nothing worse that going through all that and being told a year later your right and in the end getting nothing from him.
If you dont have anything constructive and all that........ x

FFS, someone new comes on here looking for some help and the best that Ross_Jsy can do is have a pop at him for a decision he's happy with. It's his car, his money, if you've nothing constructive to say, wind your neck in and go bother someone else, preferably on another forum.
I have my own opinions on what he should've done, but I don't get a lift from kicking someone when they are down.
There's no value in having a web forum if it exists for people to slag each other off, the purpose of it is so we can help each other, which we should all keep in mind.

I agree with Topblag, and seeing as the matter has been 'resolved' I would consider getting this thread locked before it goes the way of many Zone threads in the past.

Sorry if you took that as me taking a pop, if you are happy with it then that is fine but I would be pushing for all the costs covered.
Enjoy your e30, just a shame your experience of them has been so marred!

I'm going to look towards leaving this thread open for now. Everyone's had their say and so now we reach a point where in a few days/weeks time 318isPMK (sorry, I didn't catch your name earlier) posts a few progress shots of the car.
That, to me, would make a most excellent ending.
Oh, and once you've got a firm grip on things I'm sure the guys here will get a small meetup going a few weeks down the line, ay?

I have 2 pics so far one on a low loader and one of its engine in two bits
Well up for a meet if anyone wants to fund my petrol money I think im looking at £1250 to do a proper repair lol
Bloody car was only £3,200
Will that make mine the most expensive 318iS on here?

thats not too bad dude you can easily get hold of a lump for that sort of cash if a repair turns out to be too expensive. although it may have came across wrong, i have to agree that ross has a point, the seller was always going to open the 'poor door' and look for the cheapest excuse to solve the problem, (who wouldnt in his position as an 'arfur daley' type) however like you said, the effort and time + the fact you may walk out with zip or even worse out of pocket YET AGAIN means it was the right choice to accept the £350 being as you want to keep the car anyway, or worded differently, you chose the lesser of two evils. At least youre happy with the outcome! shows that not getting arsey and sticking to diplomacy can have a positive impact in some form or another, well done

You ask about photos, well the short of it is to head to Photobucket.com, register yourself there for free unticking all the newsletter gubbins and upload a photo. Once uploaded select the 'IMG' tag by hovering over the image you later want to paste here.
