No piña rear valance mate. Some I've seen with skirts but many without. Who's got that pic of the blue one with the geezer in aviators, old press pics?polsta wrote:what alpina ? not that i know much about them, but alpinas did have skirts ? car looks nice, but form the side the front looks way too low compared to rest of the car, is there not an alpina rear valance ?MattTheHat325 wrote:It's exactly like an alpina would be, chrome window trim, black painted standard sills. I have been toying with the idea of something on the splitter, but didn't want to go for full alpina stripes as it's not an alpina. It does look a bit too much White I think that's why it looks unbalanced.
And yeah it is a fritz bits system and manifold mate. Wheels are staggered rials from a mercedes sec

think i know the car you mean, but dont forget, a proper alpina with the side stripes, rear spoilers, alpina logo on the front splitter etc.. gives an all round look
when its a white non alpina with a plain white front splitter, it looks a bit front heavy and half finished and of course, doesnt have the alpina look and feel to the car

I know what you mean about the unfinished look, it most certainly is unfinished. I'll figure out something, I suppose I've confused myself a bit as I never set out to build a replica but he does need a couple more touches to make him look complete. Boot spoiler is on the cards. That will help. I just don't like skirts, I know some do but they just remind me of those RS body kit accessories for non-RS fords.polsta wrote:think i know the car you mean, but dont forget, a proper alpina with the side stripes, rear spoilers, alpina logo on the front splitter etc.. gives an all round look

agreed i think skirts on a road car are banditMattTheHat325 wrote:I just don't like skirts, I know some do but they just remind me of those RS body kit accessories for non-RS fords.
The Alpina side skirts are not actually Alpina. They were part of the BMW Aero kit made by pfieba for pre sept '85 metal bumper models which also pre dates the M technic 1 kit.MattTheHat325 wrote:I know what you mean about the unfinished look, it most certainly is unfinished. For some reason, Sytner decided to use these side skirts on some UK built E30 Alpina's and you will not see them on any Buchloe built E30 Alpina.
They are not in any E30 Alpina parts catalogue.
All Alpina did/do for pretty much all of its models old and new was a front spoiler and a boot spoiler.
No side skirts or rear valence.

Is the pfieba front apron the one with the vertical vents/slots at either side? There is a red chromie 325 parked in the yard of one of my local garages with one of those on if i'm correct, its been there for years. i quite like it if i'm honest, shame it wasn't for facelift!

I would be surprised if the car you have seen is a 325i as they came out in sept '85 with the the facelift of the metal bumer cars. The front metal valence is different on sept '85 onward cars and the early pfeba kit is for '82-sept 85' cars.
Might have been nailed on though.

Felix had the rear apron/valence in the pic above.magpie wrote:felix had a rear apron on his pina that looked presentable .

Was hoping I might have caught a glimpse of my old Convertible on here (would be great to know it was still about and in the hands of an enthusiast)
Bought it for my 21st Birthday some 15 years ago (wish digital cameras had been around back then)
F-registered 1989 320i se Convertible in Alpine White II with Indigo softop and indigo cloth M-Tech interior.
it was a metal bumper (but facelift) car with factory brightwork, which I kept when I fitted the genuine Tech-1 bodykit. I Veeeeerrrrrryyyy slightly lowered her and fitted a set of 17" RSR's
When I sold the car 10 years ago she was still in fabulous condition and I remember the lad that bought if off me sent me a text for the next 3 years in a row, every time it went for an MOT informing me how she'd sailed through with no advisories.
BTW is it just me, or do 320i's sound better than 325i's??
