i did the cambelt on the C2 wagon today and i could help but take the pulley off to have a look. Well as you can see this cam is idiot proof like the stock cams. So my question is how the fook is the supposed same camshaft from the same company drilling 2 in now?!
It still doesn't excuse my mistake but people take heed of my failing when using a schrick stick in future i think is the big lesson.
Matt i never rechecked the timing as i couldnt turn her over by hand so i knew then the game was up!!
I reckon just having a rough playabout it won't be totally crippling. I have a really really good overhauled head. All it would need is the alpina head work re doing and a reface. I reckon on about £300 to get this head tickled up into alpina spec. Its already had guides and re cut seats etc. Its not a genuine head but i'm really not that bothered about that.
Bottom end? probably best to fit 6 new slugs. If i sent them to JE or someone they could knock me up another set. Then i don't need to do any work to the block. Surely i can re use the piston rings?
Crank and block should go again, camshaft looks fine but i want to double check its the right one tbh. Rockers ok so lots of bits can be re used i think.
I reckon £1500 might get me back in business. I'm going to sell the bronzit and next time i'll just put it straight in the car. With the bronzit out the way i can get some space back to get stuck into sorting this all out.
