Ha ha Very good Sir!
A fit M52B28 with M50 inlet manifold, Nice exhaust and some mild ECU re-programing would see well over 220bhp. With the vanos seals replaced and the unit cleaned you'll have loads of torque mid to top end!

Not being too clued up about Vanos, I know basically what it does, what would replacement seals and a clean up actually do to it in terms of the jobs it does, if you know what I mean?

Check out this drool-worthy slice of E24! Needs a manual box tho, but that's no biggie if you're swapping engines anyway..

Lovely old thing. Beardymatt has it now.

I think an M52 would be a bit dissapointing in one of these, there not exactly light chariots.
After messing about with wiring, manifolds, exhausts, linkages, prop, etc.. you may aswell go M60! it would suit the car better imo.

no E34 /E36 donks are needed when you own a decent E28 535i, they really are awesome to drive as they are,
M30 FTW ! I love em

I think mine will be getting some S power treatment, just cant settle on which one yet plus people keep selling other desirable cars to throw me into turmoil. Its always the same with me when i cant actually get on with a project my mind starts to wander.
so far ive fitted (in my mind i must stress)
S50b32
M60b40 - A chrome bumpered V8 would just be right, like a euro muscle car
S62b50 - As above only better
S38b35
S54b32
Which one i end up doing will depend on what turns up first and what budget i settle on.
Other than the engine i just want to add the style 5`s I have along with an M5 chin spoiler (try finding one of those!) and maybe some M5 arch extensions. And get some sports seats for it as those armchairs although comfy are useless when it comes to keeping you in around corners which isnt too much of a problem at the moment as worn suspension and metric tyres put any ideas of brisk cornering well out of mind
Got some bills to sort before this so still plenty of time for more daydreaming.

You can buy new seal kits quite cheap and it's not a massive job to do. Chances are you will need a complete rocker gasket set too. Takes about 3/4 hours start to finish to do the actual work but make sure you don't pinch the new seals on the Vanos when refitting. Also....time does not reflect the cleaning and refurb of the Vanos unit.johnl320 wrote:Not being too clued up about Vanos, I know basically what it does, what would replacement seals and a clean up actually do to it in terms of the jobs it does, if you know what I mean?

Full M-Tech kit in decent condition - missing a front fog cover and maybe one or two of the jacking point covers. Some of the fittings aren't in great nick but if you need any of it it's there...beardymat wrote:What you got exactly?
