A work mate just showed me this turbo and manifold on ebay and is pretty sure it will be a good buy and will give great performance!
I had to post this on here as loads of people have done turbo conversions to m20's on here.
What you guys think? A load of turd or not?

It won't give great performance, no doubt the cheap chinese turbo will do a poo all over the inside of your engine.
And as for the manifold, while it might look pretty, almost guaranteed to crack very early on in it's life.
Interestingly it fits a 328i as well as an m3. Didn't realise they all shared the same flange
Turboing is never going to be cheap. Don't waste your money

Easy money for the seller at the end of the day. Got to ask yourself, out of those 4 sold, how many of the projects will come to fruition. Chances are, all 4 buyers are council mongs who tell everyone down the pub that they are building a turbo BMW which will no doubt sit rusting in their garden till the scrap man calls.
Although I've not read much into the turbo threads on here, I was thinking about this the other day (no intention to turbo my car) - if one of these cheap manifolds (there's some on ebay for £120) actually fit properly, would it not be a worthwhile purchase and then taking it to a fabricator and asking them to copy it. Would that work out cheaper in the long run or just be a complete waste of time?
i wouldnt get that turbo but a few zoners have used this manifold from what ive heard, to good effect
im also thinking of buying this to do my conversion as i have a hybrid turbo sat in my garage doing nothing, the only thing yet holding me back is aftermarket management

Megasquirt should run just as good as an OEM setup.
GIGO is normaly the reason why megasquirt runs crap.

Plenty of plug and play megasquirt options out there for the m20. Will run crap if it's mapped poorly.
If I was to turbo an m20 I would be looking at one of these:
http://www.666fabrication.com/m2061.html
Or if on a budget, this if it would work with RHD:

Don't see the point in cheaping out on parts when chasing performance.

dont kock ms unless youve tried it best thing ive ever put on mine and as for that turbo dont even bother the oil seals will poo them selves in a matter of minutes
as for the manifold yeah there ok and yeah some dont fit properly but for the price they do the job the bolt holes some times dont quite line up on the head but its an easy fix plus they tend to crack under heat with the weight of the turbo on them so a little bit of bracing wont go amiss to buy a proper turbo manifold from 666 fab your looking at 700 quid easy
