brown temp sensor

what color wires should be attached to the brown sensor as looked at mine due to no temp on gauge and only one wire was attatched ive earthed the other wire still nothing .

then bridged the 2 pins together and temp goes round to red so unsure if this is wiring or just a dodgy temp sensor?
Injections nice....but I'd rather be blown ;)

It should be a brown / violet wire taken from the E36 sensor which is to the left of where you have the E30 brown sensor.

do you defo have the right sensor in? what caught me out is the E30 brown temp sensor has the space for 2 pins but only have one pin in it set to one side. the sensor earths itself off the block rather than down the (imaginary) 2nd wire, thats why theres only one pin. :)
