I'm looking for an E28 M5. My father used to drive an E12 and an E28 when we were kids and I have a real soft spot for them. I recently owned an E60 M5 and have previously owned E34 535i's etc, but my heart has always been with the E28. I figure if I'm going to have one then it may as well be the M5 - or maybe even an Alpina.

Any opinions or advise on what to look for? I am looking for the lowest mileage expample I can find, I guess circa £15-25k? This will not be a daily driver, more of a garage queen.

Here's my old E60:

and my old E34 535 (badged as an M5 - sad, yes) - I sold this in January 2002! You can tell how old the pics look - they were taken with a Sony Mavica floppy disc drive digital camera. 640x480 FTW.

Interesting to see if it's still on the road...

Think Andy (who's selling the Alpina C2 Touring) could give you the inside gen on this one..

I'd say it's very fair myself. If I was in a position to buy it, I would.

It has to be the M5, would you really be getting bang for buck with the 'pina? :)

They were an option. Looks much better un-kitted.
