Hello everyone.

Recently got some new wheels from barx on here so i thought i would share to see what people think.

Ronal ls with new toyo proxes. :D

Centre caps off for the time being as i am waiting for some BMW logos as the Ronal ones look shite IMO

Next week its being lowered 30mm all round so they should sit better then.

Got new bumper strips about to be ordered too so the trim should look better after that.

Then its up for a respray and full waxoil in a few months i am planning to either keep it brilliant red or complete colour change. Thoughts? What would look good?! I do not want anything crazy as i want to keep it as subtle and stock as possible.

Looks really good. I would keep it red and go lower than 30mm.

Also, could you polish the lips on the Ronals? Think it would work pretty well.

Cheers dude, i was thinking stay red to keep it more standard i just hate the slight differences in colour on the panels at the moment.

I think 30mm is a safe bet as i want to keep it practical! hah

Polishing could be something worth thinking about!

Anyone got any more ideas?

color change would be a bad move, would kill its originality on whats a nice looking un chaved car, plus to do a full re spray properly would mean a total strip of all trim, interior, engine, glass, head lining really, and even then there would probably be traces of red left here n there

does it need a re spray ? paint looks good tbh ? money could be spent on doing all the bushes, getting things like the subframe taken out, bushed, power coated, whole underside re furbed and re sealed, getting all under the arched and engine bay replace clips and fittings for new ones etc and get rid of rusting clips and screws, makes the car a lot nicer on the whole and nicer to work on

quick shift and 370ml tech 2 wheel are fantastic to do to an is, and transforms the way it feels to sit in and drive, lots of enjoyment/feeling benefits to be had with them

rear head rests give a cracking improvment on sporty look, a lot more than youd think, map mirror is a great addition aswell

Hi Polsta.

I completely agree with keeping it red, i love the colour anyway and was just asking to see if anything else inspired me hah. Its really important to me that all mods are subtle to keep the originality of the car as you see far too many that have been molested.

The paint is good in photos its just only really clear when you see it in person. Doors are off colour with the wings, boot top has loads of little marks and whitening from age and CATS :x
In some places the top coat looks to be peeling i don't really know how to explain but thats how it looks.

I would love to do all you have said also but don't really have the mechanical knowhow or be able to see what needs doing. Im keen to learn though!

I was thinking about the steering wheel previous as it has a tech 1 at the moment but its huge and feels like a bit of a boat...

see all them things above.... i did all that myself to mine, didnt know anything about e30s

only think i got someone to do was the quick shift, £10 labour

things like the 370ml wheel and quick shift, map mirror, rear ehad rests.. give a better driving expirience,. you think £120 for a steering wheel...but i paid it, you get it in the car and it totaly transforms the feel, the drive, the steerings better, and you feel it in your hands every minute your driving ,look after it, it will also never loose value, and can be taken off and kept if and when you sell the car

as for the little clips and fittings etc... go on real oem, or ring bmw...say you want all screws/nuts/fittings for whereever you want... or write the real oem part numbers, and just a case of removing the old, go 1 wheel arch at a time...

wheel off, rub any/all the flakey dirt/mudd off, plastic scraper etc, and give it all a good clean, seal it all, and re fit the new clips, its very easy and pleasureable to do and know its been done

when you take the plastic arch liners off (have you ever removed them?) , youl see that clips and nuts need doing, its good to get them rusty fittings off the car and replaced, gen ones are available form your local bmw and only cost penuts

im by no means an expert,im just passing on what i learnt and did to my is

when you have time, just jack it up and remove a front wheel, just take one of the arch liners out and clean the arch out, see what crap you find or not,and look at the fittings, its only 3 or 4 plastic nuts under there, its very easy , and youl learn a bit more about your car

before doing a re spray, really it should only be done once the car is in superb order underneath the shell

are your jacking points etc nice ??

doing 1 side at a time, you could... remove a seat, unclip the long plastic sill/carpet trim and take out the under steering panel (3 plastic turn screws) , and just pull up the edge of the carpet and have a look under and inspect the floor and up in the corner by pedals... and put back together, in an hour or so just to have a look , also feeling for any damp in the carpet backing foam

take out the rear dor cards, and boot carpet...have a good look all around, things like that take 10 mins and good to do to see the true state of your car

Thanks for all the help Polsta,

Ive been thinking about pulling up all the carpet and checking for bad rust as i know its normally hiding away under the carpet or behind the arches if anywhere. I am quite nervous to do so as all my outer arches, battery tray, sills and usual spots are perfect hah. I will give it a go just for piece of mind.

I was going to make sure everything else was sorted before if and when i resprayed it as theres no point dumping that money into a car if its not a good shell, i plan to keep it for the long run and as its a second car i wont be putting all that many miles on it. Still relatively low at 103k so i want to keep it as nice as i can.

The steering wheel i think is a good call will have to keep eyes out.

What quick shift are you talking about and hows that in terms of price/model.

How do you feel about aftermarket exhausts? Nothing too loud or in your face just subtle and to give it a cleaner appearance.

i replaced my exhaust that was rusty, with a bosal, gem bmw are not cheap, dont really know about others, got a scorpion back box on my sport that sounds super !

you dont need to take the carpets out, just remove the front trim bits ,seat, and pull up the corners, is easy enough , just to inspect and look under for peace of mind, its an e30- there will be rust somewhere i should imagine if you want to find it

bmw ! ring bmw up and ask for a z3 quick shift kit , go on the e30zone wiki and find it on there or search on here, for part numbers , think the price has gone up in the last year since i bought mine for £60 all in

its the gear shift lever , not a hard job for a mechanic to do its a bung em £10/20 sort of job depending how friendly you are with them/a mate

makes the gear change shoort and precise like a sports car, feels brilliant to drive with !
