Yes, I had this problem in my sport, take out the centre console(the thing around the gear stick) and look up under the dash, its a big black thing! Just look to see where its dripping!alexm3uk wrote:passenger side(m3) and would the heaters still be working if it was the matrix??

yep, the old heater matrix problem, a bitch of a job somehow (difficult positions to work on), haven't been round to finish mine and connected the two pipes going in from the engine bay with a flexipipe. And its cold inside ffs

before you go tearing the dash to bits it is worth checking if the water in the carpet is actually coolant. Does it smell of antifreeze?
Given the monsoon season is here it is worth checking sunroof drain channels, plus the elephant snout under the bonnet (bulkhead just behind spark plug 6 on an M20) this blocks with crap over time and then leaves the water with nowhere to go but into the cabin etc. You could be very unlucky like me and have a bulkhead like a tea bag. If you can pull the carpet away in the passenger footwell near the corner where the kick plate is, look for any signs of water trickling down there/rusty stains (would suggest a long standing problem rather than matrix) also check the heater pipes supplying the matrix, o rings have known to cause similar symptoms. Check window seal on passenger window also.

also check the seal around the door. if you pull it up and find water under it then its drawing rain/puddle water through the bottom of the door. noticed that on my passenger side
