Which one would you go for and why?
Any comments on ride quality/harshness much appreciated.

Many thanks

I had Bilstein B8s and Eibach springs on my M3 suspended 320is and it handled and rode beautifully. Really, really good and I'd buy the same set up again.

I've no experience of H and R though, so can't give you a comparison between the 2, sorry.

anothere21323i - thanks for that!

i have heard exactly that of the B8/eibach set up and wanted to know how the H&R compared as there is a price difference.
From my experience of the H&R coilovers they are quite harsh.

The Americans love the H&R set up on their modern BMWs - probably because they don't have pot hole infested roads like us so what we find harsh to them would be a firm and very sorted set up!

I've got the cup kit and it drives very smooth, quite soft rear end not to harsh at the front.

I don't believe there is very much difference as I think billy dampers are used in the cup kit anyway

As above, im sure its B8's they put with the cup-kit
I have B8's and H&R springs on my chromie, the H&R are a bit stiffer than the Eibachs, so you need to consider engine weight/driving style/required comfort when choosing.
My B3 donk is about the same or slightly heavier than an M20 and the car drives great, the tyres are 225/40/16 so not much sidewall to soak up the bumps.
I also had H&R with B6's on my track car, ally M52, and that too was fine.

IMO-
H&R for road holding/less body roll
Eibach for daily driver/more comfort

i was told by a retailer that boge dampers were used with the -35mm cup kit and they look identical to boge turbos.
Cup kit gives very good ride and handling I had two shocks fail within a year though and that was with very gentle use.
i would go cup kit cos of the cost and put the money saved towards the superb H+R arb's.

cup kit on the cab the B8's or B6's will be too stiff.

there other option would be the B4 bilstein shocks

aslo a cab sits low on the back, i'd only consider a slight drop on the front only

Thanks kos, do you know of any springs that have a similar drop to my motorsport suspension on the rear and a slight subtle drop up front.....maybe 30-40mm max.

cup kit ;)

or

these shocks
http://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.as ... 004&12=140

with

http://web2.carparts-cat.com/default.as ... 004&12=140

the springs are listed as an even drop 30mm front & rear, but it will balance the look of the car. i'd only fit the fronts to start then see how its sits.

if if you fit the rears and its too low you can then fit thicker spring pads to lift the back a bit. BMW's do them in 3 sizes starting at 5mm a 7.5mm and a 10mm

Thanks kos, you've made my mind up for me.....I'm going with the cup kit. There are some Stonkingly good deals over on German eBay! A saving of over £100 to what they are here in the UK!
