the v5 is the registered keeper for sure, and the person responsible for the car day to day. the owner is the person with the receipt for purchase.TouringTash wrote:can someone post a pic up showing the engine number location on a S50b30 engine for the OP please.
@Jim not pure theft. Theft, fraud AND deception, more to this than meets the eye.
Police involvment is NEVER a simple scenraio.
Is this a legal or lawful issue?
do you understand who even owns a car? Look at your docs for your car You are NOT the owner.
you/we are just the REGISTERED KEEPERS
do not take my word or that of ANYONE else. do your homework.
I'll start you with regius ex or as the state calls it registration.
if he goes to the police with a v5 and insurance in his name thatll be enough for the police to look into it.

1st up you need to get your exhaust manifold and speak to BTB.. Then save up. There is about 15hrs of wiring to sort, plus god knows how much bodgery that can't been seen. It is not going to be cheap. If you were closer I'd be able to help.

They offer the, as yet, only proven exhaust manifold setup for this swap. From the sounds of it, you need to find out the price, save up for it, then take the car somewhere to be finished on terms or however you can arrange to work it.
This is why, even if you aren't doing the work, you should at least have some understanding of what is required.

from a trading standards point of view you can go down to recover the car. he can prevent you from recovering if you are flat out refusing to pay for any work done up to now but as you have paid £1700 up to date it then becomes a civil matter as to amounts outstanding so if you go down mob handed but peacefully to recover your stuff then even if he phones the police they wont stop you from recovering your property.in fact, if your planning to go down to recover its probably better to phone the police yourself to explain prior to going in and ask for them to attend as you fear he could turn nasty. its then up to him to persue you through civil courts for any money he thinks you owe but by the sounds of things i dont think hed bother.
assuming englands the same as scotland on these matters anyway.
once you have all your stuff back you can then sort him out how you see fit.

not damaging it, but it won't make anywhere near the proper power with that manifold fitted, the S50 engines need the equal length headers and the x pipe to make the power. I'd doubt they have even fitted up both lambdas either

Air fliter is too small, wrong exhaust, wiring looks shoddy and the ECU should definitely not be mounted on the inner wing!
God knows whats happened with the brakes or coolant pipework but its not likely to be any good looking at the above pics.
Basically, as has been said previous, it looks like you will need at least £3k to get it to a 'basic' acceptable standard

So have they got it running again?
+1 on the manifold, id be suprised if it made 250hp with that M50 effort fitted.

I thought the M50 manifold doesn't line up with the S50 exhaust ports.

The problem with the ecu is that it was designed to be housed inside the cabin along with the other black box above it which i think is the vanos controler. These use non waterproof connectors and wont respond well to getting wet.
It all looks a bit thrown together in the easiest manner but should be sortable once you get it back. I think i would be looking to get all the other leftovers back from the M3 too so you have all the parts you may need and can ebay off whats not required to fund getting this put right.
good luck with it, They make awesome fun cars. wish i still had mine.
