You need a reciept for the engine, and not a biro scrawl on a fag packet. After April 2012, the car will need a catalyst no matter what age engine is fitted. If it had a Catalyst when new, it needs one now.

Thats fine i dont intend on telling Dvla, as i'am keeping original engine and everything, if i ever need to go back to a fuel efficient 1.8 i can :)

why would i need an engineers report then?

This is how it has always been, and still is as far as the test results are concerned, but the exact wording of the new regs. is "3.A catalytic converter missing where one was fitted as standard.", and I will be presenting a post '92 touring, fitted with a M50 engine with no cat.
So long as it is not post 95 then because an exact match cannot be found in the emissions database then it goes to none cat default.

The way it has been interpreted is if the car is subject to a full cat test then it will need a cat on it. Clearly as yours isn't an exact match as it has a none std engine and will go to none cat default limits because of its age and engine configuration, it won't need a cat.

i did have one of them 14.99 ones but got this off ebay, cant argue for £20 and was only round the corner, its alot bigger than it looks.

Image

Going to buy 4x axel stands this week aswell, since ive ended up with only one :S get it on all 4's on Saturday and whip exhaust and prop off and any shananigans going to the auto box, also get the power washer under there and all its shoes off.

What did you use under the car to get it all black and nice

I'am leaving the 4.45 diff on till i can afford a 3.64 or 3.73 slipper, cant see the point in waiting 50-60 quid on an open diff for about 2 month usage :P

Managed to get the wing fitted properly, it was the door in the end  undone the door dropped it down slightly and tightened the nuts up from inside the car, involved some dismantling but was worth while.

Door still sits perfect with rear door too so all i can think is it was on at an angle :?

So to sum in up after all the pattern wing is pretty good and would use another for £40 you cannot moan

Also fitted the piece of trim to the wing, looks spot on now

Also got a nice new bit of trim to go on the passengers door under window.

Made the decision to keep it m40 after alot of thought, the car is just too good to be fookin about with, the engine is far to good, and i feel like a criminal given that its a one owner car thats not even ran in , Ive also decided to go back to college so hours will be reduced at work will work out about £300 cheaper on insurance too.

Still got the 2.5 donk and everything so will get another shell when this is finished.

Less of the blabber on......

Yesterday i Swoped the chrome bit over on the passangers door to a brand new one, also swopped the door lock over as it still had the wrong one in it, Bloody pain to do seemed soo much easier on a 2 door

Today i decided since i'am keeping the m40 Auto donk i will service it. Changed oil, Coolant, Plugs and air filter.

Ive also Spent a small fortune at BMW, Bought a Cambelt and Tensioner, And 2 new wiper blades for front and new one for rear. came to around £80 :o i ordered some 50% brighter head light bulbs, New number plate light units, and accelerator cable from ECP

I fitted all new clips to front valance for the IS lip and fitted fog lights, front end looks complete now really pleased with it.

I decided to swop the White BMW battery off my compact onto it aswell, proper Homo :o:

Nice complete door

Nice work Alex

In a way it would be a shame to modify a car this original - think this plan is better - just paedo it up and build the engine into something else.

Will it not rev any higher than 4800 , even if held in a lower gear or does it always change up at 4800 when accelerating hard ?
