Hi
I know the convertible register in the BMW Car Club is due to publish an article regarding the motorsport E30s as they keep being asked questions...if you are a member you will get a copy of the magazine free...only an additional Ԛ£5 to join the convertible register and meet other members with similar cars
Good luck...what colour were you looking to buy

I know the 1 that you are on about had a chat with the guy at the show infact i have some pics of the car from the show.
I cant wait to get my new motorsport now,the only think that i am not to sure about is that its a auto and my old macau blue motorsport was a manual but the MOTORSPORT DADDY has told me its much nicer as they where made for cruzing lol.
I would also like to point out a few facts regarding my old MOTORSPORT which has now been sold to a zoner fastcarz464 and he is trying to sell her on again on ebay and the zone FOR PERSONAL REASONS.
The car is recorded as a repaired insurance total loss by an insurance company BMW 325I MACAU BLUE MOTORSPORT CONVERTIBLE H2 AOS.
Inspection date 30/10/97.
Inspection Autolign.
Recorded by an insurance company as a total loss and subsequently the vehicle has passed an independent structural examination.
There is no Category on this MOTORSPORT i REPEAT no CATEGORY.
This motorsport is classed as the same as any other car on the uk roads today.
He knows the score with regards to the car and i am sure he would have told anybody the facts if they where interested in the car.
I hope this clears up any misunderstandings,as i thing somebody on the zone was trying to imply that i was FASTCARZ464.
Cheers

Hi Guys i have paid for my new MOTORSPORT just got to sort out a couple of days of work and i will be catching the train down to Portsmouth to pick her up.
The problem now is when i phoned the dvla up with regards to re reging the car they told me i would not be able to drive her home even though she will be fully insured cant see any problems there.
They said i should get her transported or go the the dvla in Portsmouth to sort out all the re reg lark and get it taxed but hell i dont have time to mess about in a strange town,i was hopeing to pay the duties clear customs and head for home park her up in the garage and sort things out.
The car will be insured plus its been checked out and is roadworthy but it will still orginal plates on not uk ones.
No mot as they do not have mots where the cars come from no tax as they do not have tax.
Anybody know where i stand as regards to driveing her home she still is a uk spec car.
Cheers
Rhino ps how long will it take to drive back from Portsmouth to Manchester, is it to much of a long way for the old girl to travel on her first trip to the uk.Getting a transporter will cost a fortune i bet.

Glad to hear the car's on its way.
A bit surprised about the DVLA being so arsy
As mentioned, get in touch with Iain (HartgeH27) in case you need any help/info while in Portsmouth.
And just to clarify about the Sebring Grey exclusivity - it's the ONLY colour that was unique to the E30 Motorsport convertible in the E30 range - BMW might have made a few M5s in that colour, and that can only be a good thing - after all, the M5 is a real ///M car

What country is it coming from as if from within the EEC you can bring it in on export plates and then no problem driving it as long as you have insurance...if from a rhd country it will be outside the EEC hence a problem but if a LHD country dont forget to flick the switch on the headlamps...but you will need an mot at some point anyway...but to register the car the DVLA need to have all the paperwork...mot, tax application etc so need to confirm an office locally that can issue on the spot..dont know much about Portsmouth, but Iain will know
Good luck....whats the story how the car escaped the country!!

The car was sold new in Guernsey channal islands,i take it the it was order new from the uk and exported to Guernsey as my local BMW dealer still have all the info on the car.
Its was then supplied by Jacksons garage a Bmw dealer in Guernsey.
I still have to pay import duties on her as she is coming back into the uk.
I have been told i can drive her as she has been taxed in Guernsey and with insurance should be okay until i re reg her.
The only think is the duff invoice that will be showen to customs and i hope they dont get any funny ideas on the value.
Like bahrat says, she is 15 years old and there is no way they can dispute the value as there is nothing to compare the car too i am hopeing this will be the case and it will be plain sailing.
Cheers

Hi..the car is coming from the EEC and is over 18 months old and guess it has done 18k miles + so there should be no duty to pay...who told you that there was, it is only on new cars being imported...would habe to look up exact figures but think it is about 6 months and then classified as used if has been used abroad...with over 10k etc on it
The convertible register in the car club if you are a member could value the car...but it is basically a E30 325 cab to a customs man...but it is not an issue as far as I can see
Good luck..but think its simpler than you are making it...know people had no problems with E30 M3 and several other used car from EEC

Hi
As far as i know i have to pay vat/import tax on the car when importing her from Guernsey.
I have to pay near Ԛ£500 and thats on a duff bill of sale so its a bit steep.
I can now also drive her home as she is taxed in Guernsey so is legel to drive in the uk.
The vat/import duties is a real pain in my side as it is a total waste of money, due to the cars age would understand if she was new.
If anybody knows different let me know.
Cheers

Hi
That sounds wrong to me and my previous experience...the car is old and there should not be vat and duty...speak to the DVLA or your local registration office or ideally both in case you get different info
