Ive just googled '786' this is what i got.
786 is meant to be the number of 'bismillahirahmaniraheem (In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful - which is the first verse of the Quraan)
In arabic, each letter has a number
alif -1
bee 2
etc
if you add the numbers up, for bismillah in arabic, you get 786.
That is where the number came from.

Not aimed at you Lee but thats
Could be that the numbers assigned to each letter were made so the number started with the lucky number 7?
This is numerology isn't it and that classed as pseudo-mathematics.

But a message to them.
You've messed up. You bought the engine and box cheap, then left it lying around for too long. You then fitted it incorrectly, and messed it up. You feel foolish by your incompetance, the waste of money and effort. You then cook up an idea of blaming Rob, to give yourself some form of excuse. Its really not good enough.
Just apologise, say sorry you have wasted peoples time, and then feel better about yourself.
no nobody need rumbled we used the same laptop, is there a problem with that?
Might be a good idea to give up on E30's too.

ok is that right, so how can you incorrectly fit the engine and make the bottom end knock, the engine was fitted by a mechanic not a lollypop man, and john ive always had e30s you cant tell me when to give up so stop goin on like a broken record .... .... ....Z3I wrote:Well, Azza and Moody have been rumbled, thanks to Brian checking their IP addresses.

not a complete engine just blocke30topless wrote:Fack me Rob I take my hat of to you fella, serving a rapping/knocking M20 donk for 200 sheets is sheer quality![]()
so the buyer bought a complete engine for £200 AND expects a 6 month warranty?![]()
on a more serious note the sale was months ago, who's to say it hasn't been thrashed over the last 6 months ?
can he provide a reciept from the garage that fitted it showing it was installed by a qualified Mechanic ? what quality oil has been used ect ? my bet is none of the above
I would not refund anything at all for this engine it was damn cheap enough at £200, the head alone is worth that ...

Why haven't I been singled out, what makes you so special adi, Trev. Slip him some sheckles did you?
Ohh to be sworn at over an internet forum, you lucky, lucky, lucky men.
What I would give for just a little saucy word, nothing too rude as I blush easily due to my delicate complexion. It matches my nature don't ya know?

Name of mechanic please, an acquaintance races in the Porsche CC and has his pal who just happens to be an owner of a dealership dealer as his spanner man, so spill the dealers name or fitter and I'll find out. It's a small world within the beetle community.MOODY wrote:o the engine was fitted by porsche dealersmagpie wrote:who fitted it ?

he paid 300 engine box and rad, think hes coming see you soon, you can sort it out with him............capri_rob wrote:4 pages is enough I think - time to wrap this up.
As per my 1st post if the general opinion had been that I owed the buyer something I would have paid him.
As the views of all but 2 ( Azza and his mate ) posted on this 4 page thread concur with my gut feeling that I don't owe Azza anything we can leave it there.
I won't be spending my time and money coming to Stoke to see something which proves absolutely nothing - at the end of the day the engine was sold as all good, in good faith and I had described all the new bits fitted, work done to it and even put a video on the for sale ad to be as fair and transparent as possible with the sale.
If Azza wants to take it further he needs to provide me with his contact details and I will take formal legal advice as I believe I've done nothing wrong.
I don't want to go down the legal route but I will defend myself in this way if necessary as I believe that the engine was 100% sound when it was sold however it was sold as seen and advertised without any sort of warranty given or implied, and 8 months down the line when it could have been incorrectly transported, stored, installed, recommissioned etc any issues occurring now just arent my fault.
I still have the youtube video on my phone which is obviously date-stamped so can confirm the date the footage of the engine running perfectly was taken.
Azza assuming you havent found fault with the 325i gearbox that was part of the £200 deal, that engine at best owes you £150. IF somehow the bottom end is now knackered you will get that back by selling the head and weighing the block in - and you can use the new waterpump and cambelt tensioner on the next engine you buy.
Thanks to all zoners for their input
