We did indeed. I don't think we got the injected one but Broadspeed (iirc) did do a turbo conversion which was quite gnarly for an early 70s turd.
How anybody bought a Firenza when you could buy one of these for similar dollars, god knows ?

my sister had a P reg Magnum 1800 as a first car it was my Grans for years before that in white. My dad couldn't give it away back in 2000 ish when she bought a new car. It was sadly scrapped and it wasn't a rotton pig, they only built 2000 iirc? She bent a wheel on it once, Vauxhall found one at a dealer in N.I for it!

Do have a soft spot for old Escrotes, and they dominate in the Jersey Rally, the sorted E30's don't even hold a candle to them

I have an old 1980's Lancia Beta 1300 under wraps on the drive, I bought for 500 squid. If you thought mk1 escorts rotted quick you have seen nothing. I love it though and even thinking of tearing it apart repairing rust and rebuilding it with a paint job. I think I have been hit over the head with a brick too many times!
I find it quite bemusing seeing sh** old cars being treated like a rolls. I love mk1 escorts and I think the reason they go for silly money is the rally boys bought em for cotton buds and built them into mean machines so the unmolested ones are collectible.

That's why I bought it, I went round to this elderly gentlemans house to do some work. he said he had an old Lancia he never used (30,000 miles on the clock) and said he'll give it to me for the work I'd done for £500 it looked stunning and I bit his hand off for it, shame the gold wheels though. The 1300 is a very rare beast there are a few 2000's about though.Cloggy Saint wrote:I love how the Betas look, especially the HPE which I suspect is now more or less extinct.

I have a Fiat twin cam in a Minor and it sounds great too.
I had to rebuild the Weber on mine.

If you can't find a rebuild kit on E-bay, try Autostoria:

I would in a heartbeat but I want to be all OEM with this car. If I refurb the carb then if I have any loose change I might stick a couple of those carbs on.TouringTash wrote: get a few of these http://www.keihincarbs.com/

aaaah.. it's sad when old bangers go 'cult' and suddenly rocket in price.. I used to buy opel manta coupes (b/cc's) like it was going out of fashion, I bought a nice black GT/e once for £100 and just took the recaro's out and weighed it in! at one point I had four (the neighbours must have loved it!) and now look at them, if you can find a rotten shell with no chassis rails it's 2 grand.. and that knobhead 'nutty nik' with his turd of a v8 snotter want's 30 large for the thing! (woo hoo hoo).. it's a shame, cos I'd love another GT/e

There is a couple of guys in the US that will 'play ball' in sending these over. But steer clear of madmike the offroad trader on the bay, you'll get hit for the dreaded.Touring_IOM wrote:I would in a heartbeat but I want to be all OEM with this car. Where I used to live in 81-83 (Crewkerne, Zummerzet), a local scrapyard took all the Betas from Lancia UK to crush them. There were always about 100 of them in there stacked in neat rows, 4 cars high. Beta saloons, HPE's, Spyders and Coupes - plus the odd MonteCarlo which was a sorry rust heap. You couldn't buy any parts from them - radios and wheels came off before they were crushed whole. Most of them looked very tody and some were T-V plate which was only 2-3 years old.
