have you checked the coolant level?

have you tried to bleed the air from the cooling system?

Is there any resistance when you turn the tempurature knob?

the heater valve is controlled by a solinoid (on the left of the centre consul, almost on the engine fire wall, the water pipe wil go straight to it, it is a pig to change so try tapping it with a screwdriver while adjusting the temp knob from hot to cold, hopefully you will excersise it if it is just stuck.
