I havent got a clue about stereos and wiring them in... When ever I have installed one in the past, I try to buy ones that have the same plugs in thats already there

Currently I have 2 block connectors, one is for the power side and the other is the speakers etc...

I also have the 2 lead audio out plug thing (Red & White plugs on either end) Which go from my current stereo to an amp...

Now the Memphis doesnt have the 2 holes for this... I'm assuming one of the odd looking circle holes with lots of pins holes is for this?

In no rush to get this installed, but thought I would start doing some research now so I could locate anything I needed when I got round to puttting it in...

Might seem like a daft thread but I really have no clue when it comes to the backs of stereos

It does have a diagram on the top of it saying where the power, Earth, speakers etc go, but isnt it better to have it all through an amp?

I want to wire in my 2 footwell speakers, some sort of vibe speakers, oem tweeter pods, rear premium speakers and a alpine sub of some sort in the boot... I have a fli amp which is only 2 channels, will I need a amp with 7 channels for all the speakers?

Help would be... Helpful; :D

Well, I still havent installed it, but I do now have part of the original stereo loom which I want to install when the dash comes out next, aswell as an original Blaupunkt Amp, so hopefully its plug and play when I get to this point, but I really still have no clue at all! Hopefully the stereo powers up as never even tested it

Once I get to the point of fitting it, i'll end up chasing this thread for advise though as no doubt I'll find issues

Robs right, you don't need a degree in Auto Electrics to get a stereo installed. Do make sure you get the connections correct though, and if you have part of the original loom with the wires on it, it should be easy.
Of more help to you will be the following pages from the instruction manual, especially the part on the codes. Be sure to read it first so you understand how to enter it. If you have it, and its been set, no problem. If you dont have it, and its been set, you can purchase the original code off ebay for under £10. If you dont have it, and its been reset from factory, you will need to send it away. This costs £15, plus post £10, plus your post. Its possible its been set to have no code too, so just read the pages and you should be ok.

Looking at the connections posted above and from memory of these units you should be able to use insulated female spade terminals, left to right earth, switched 12v, leccy arial or amp switch and perm 12v.

For the speaker out puts at the bottom you can still buy cables with the correct plugs but the quality of the cable might not be that great but should be adequate for the unit.

You may be able to get a converter cable for the pre-amp output to join your RCA connectors (red/while ones) but I've never had to do this so I'm not 100% sure.

I have an old cheapie amp somewhere at home thats only 50amps output but has in addition to a set of RCA inputs had a low power input so you can feed in from the standard speaker inputs. I used in in my GT6 with an old radiomobile radio/cassette and it worked really well. Something like this may be another option.
