I had wondered where this went to. Much other work needed then?
Comes from same place as mine....

I bought the car at the end of the summer from the orignal owner who was in his eighties and had looked after the car remarkably well, but it does need some work.
First I have booked the car into Autospray in Yeovil to have all the bumpers and bodykit reomved, glass out and all small areas of rust removed.
I will post pictures of the paint work in progress.

Welcome to the zone.
I remember the ad for this car, looks like a great purchase and low mileage low owner sports are a rare commodity!

Thanks for all the comments, yes it was the one on pistonheads a few months ago.
Just purchased a new top tint windscreen from BMW to be fitted when the paintwork is sorted, have been thinking about changing the aerial as it is chrome but BMW dont stock these anymore.
This weekend its back under the car as I have removed the front inner wheel arches for cleaning, so far I have found just a few areas of rust, front part of battery box and a small area under the rear bumper on the valence by the exhaust, but the more I look the more I find.

Its best to jump on any signs of rust now as they will only get worse and this car needs to be done right first time.
Black aerials are available from Euro cars parts.

Have tried Euro Car Parts for the Aerial but they have only modern plastic aerials in stock.
I have called a company called Ray Smith audio and they are searching for the correct Black Hirschmann Aerial.

The auto box feels good more relaxed driving than the manual, but you can still have fun when you want, I would have preferred a manual but when I saw the condition of the car well....
It seams to have a small leak of transmission fluid coming from the joint of the enging/gearbox will need to get this looked at next year after the paint job is finished.
Regarding the paintwork and rust the car goes in early January to Autospray in Yeovil to be sorted, I will post pictures of the progress...

Which Euro car parts did you speak to? Some of their staff a total retards and haven't got a clue!
I bought a Beru black mast aerial from them this summer, they should still sell them.

my car developed an oil leak here too
turned out the leak was the sump gasket
the bolts holding the sump on to the engine block had come loose
the bolts under the torque converter cover were allmost out of the engine block
just glad it wasnt the box
