I have killed the mintex 1166 pads in the e30 so need to change.

I have the wilwood 4pot midilite set up on the front and moving up to Bigger discs too (300mm).

Hence why I am selling the white wheels n going for bigger clearance

I think ebc, mintex and hawk are the only pads I can get some maybe going hawk race pads.

EBC have the new Blue and orange out - any feedback?
I have run the yellow stuff before and not man enough
maybe thinking DS3000 - cheaper but run out quick and major dust issues
PFC01 or PFC06 (01 being most agressive)
Hawk DTC70 or DTC60 (DTC70 beeing most agressive)
Carbon Lorraine RC8 or RC6 (RC8 beeing most agressive)
or the RC5+ which is a new compound.

another thread going on Northloop which I am keeping an eye on too but all feedback welcome.

PAGID are another obvious choice. What size format do the calipers use and is that the same as the WMS ?

Other than that the CL pads have had a lot of good press in Lotus circles with people moving from PAGID 5+ for road/track day and 6 for race.

EBC, Yellow are at best a fast road/light track day pad. If I used them they would only be in the rear. EBC generally I havent heard great things about from any racers.

DS3000 are fine & I agree with the comments.

PFC its been years since I used these, they seemed ok but not as good as a PAGID RS14 at the time & Hawk,. no experiance.

cheers dude.

I am going to ping Keri about pads too. i think they are similar to the WMS 4 pot and look pretty similar too.

Pagid are always a good choice and I used to run RS19 and 29s on my old e46 CSL. cracking pads but not cheap.

I will see what fitment I can get and then feedback. I have heard a lot of good things about Hawk pads.

Personally I wouldn't bother with DS3000,s. I used to run them in my standard calipers and they were excellent so I bought some for the new four pots when I got them... Braking performance was okay but wear rate was terrible...one day at brands killed them!!
I'm using willwoods own now and they seem much better.

Have Wilwood changed the material they use for their pads?

A couple of us used them and the dust they produced ruined our wheels so have steered clear since.

Just ordered EBC Blue to see what they're like? Used Reds till recently and were fine for my needs as was doing sprints and needed them to work from cold. Developed an annoying squeal when hot though.

Carbotech have a good reputation as well, similar level to Pagid.

The Midilite takes a similar pad to the WMS T20 (and Dynalite), but it's not exactly the same so is more expensive/rarer as a result.

thanks keri and heard the same.

was told that you can modify the Dynalite pad to then fit the midilite and not too heard to do.

do you have more pads for the dynalite?

Yup, see here under "OPTIONS": http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=209737

I can get EBC Blue and probably Orange as well. Carbotechs are £145.00+vat/set from memory!

Hoobs, I have not heard good things about the BLues. very hard compound and more of an Endurance pad, not for sprinting. the yellow would be good for that.

the new Orange race pads they have coming out are supposed to be very good but feb 2012 onwards.

I'm hoping the Orange will be a Carbotech/Pagid level pad, at EBC prices - we'll have to see.

Keri,

Is there a size code for your pads so I can see what compounds are available ?

TIA

Good point! The dust is a killer.... I reckon you could dispose of body parts with that stuff!!!

It's not so much of a problem for me as I'm not too worried about the shiny bits - just performance.

Definitely worth pointing out to others though! 8O

Sure!

DP4001 = EBC Yellow (the "4" means Yellow, 001 is the shape - so must have been their first one!)

FRP502R = Ferodo DS3000

7112 = Wilwood

MTX-1796 = Mintex

CTDL = Carbotech (CarboTechDynaLite I assume)

7752**12.4 (shape.thick) = Performance Friction

ERS0048210 = Pagid

5025W46T12 (I think) = Carbone Lorraine

HB100.480 (shape.thick) = Hawk

There are probably more! Each mfr will do several compounds as well....

Top end Mintex or Pagid will do the job, aviod EBC they are pretty much useless.

We've supplied EBC (Red mainly, with a few Yellow) to nearly all our customers and had very very few problems, and none that were "EBC specific" off the top of my head.

It's horses for courses, a £150-200 set of Pagids/Carbotechs are bound to be better than a cheaper pad, but if it was my money I would go EBC Yellow myself and use the £165 change on something else, like a trackday! :D

I'd stick my neck out and say, from my experience anyway, that if EBC yellows aren't upto the job then you're either braking too aggressively or your car is too heavy.

I used these when I first fitted my kit but have found the EBC yellows to be slightly better. The Wilwood ones didn't last very long at all considering the light usage I gave them.

We use yellows on all the MG's that race at Combe and have found them to be really good.

Any one know the part number for yellow stuff rear pads for E30?

maybe I am driving too quick 8)

I just don't think they are a very good pad, top end jobbie.

they are cheap so you get what you pay for.

the Hawk is a better pad; perfromance friction or Carbon Lorraine or Pagid area lot more money but work really well.

Have had very good experiences with the PFC06 compound pad on standard calipers, in the 7752 shape you can get 12mm thick 01 or 97 (more racey versus more track car-y) for about 45 quid plus VAT from PartBox/CoOrdSport.

i spoke to EBC recently and they are going to give me some Orange pads (gratis/FOC!) to try out front and rear. its a race compound and I have heard good reports about them.

Am going to look at bigger discs and cooling too.

got to be worth a punt for not much investment ;-)

I'm guessing they'll do them to suit wilwood calipers too?

Not quite, Midilite and Dynalite (and WMS T20) take different pads (same size, slightly different shape).

correct. but you can trim the Dynalite pad to fit the midilite. you just trace the shape and cut.

the wilwood midilite 4 pot front caliper EBC pad codes are:
yellow stuff - DP4039
orange stuff - DP9039

Keri will be giving you a shout soon on discs. should get the team dynamics race 1.2 wheels soon then can measure up how much gap I have to rim edge. I am hoping for the 300mm discs on the wilwood midilite.
