I'll counter that with my experience...jimboe39540i wrote:MR2 Mk2 Turbo - great car:

That's what I meant to say........and if I'm nob in an EVO then soon I may soon be nob in a BMW.TheRealStig wrote:Wasnt fast? Compared to what?
I have owned rev1/2 and 3's and they are GREAT cars to drive and are very fast.
Jap interiors are usually shit.
Toyota's are very reliable cars, you must have been sold a lemon mate, unfortunately.
It depends on how you look at it I spose, engine bays are tight granted.
I'm not a fanboi never have been, I just appreciate good cars, you cant dismiss a car just because of its image or owners.
Imprezzas, Evos, Skylines, Rx7, GT4s, Mr2s are fantastic cars with massive tuning potential and offer some of the best 4 pots ever made.
This "council" word is aload of bollox if you ask me. Yeah there are nobs who drive scoobys, just like theres nobs who drive BMW's, its pompous stereotyping.
Im not a fan of big wings, wraps, shiny crap either so can understand people who like european brands not to like the look of them.
Which is what I wroteuniversal wrote:correct, nissan uk is not a japanese company.
k11 micra is a japanese car, just not built and designed in japan.
The only bits the French got involved in were the timing chain, the throttle body ,the sill drainage design and the glove box locks, I;E the only bits that go wrong !B7 wrote:Which is what I wroteuniversal wrote:correct, nissan uk is not a japanese company.
k11 micra is a japanese car, just not built and designed in japan. It's a japanese car. We've spent umpteen pages writing about Sylines which are Nissans. Every sticker on a K11 has Jap writing all over it. Not much French though!
Wait until you have to buy parts for a jap car. Euros stock f*ck all for jap turds and a lot of jap parts a dealer only.B7 wrote:And whats that e39 gonna be changed for? Possibly a Lexus as I neither have the time or energy any more to keep plugging in diagnostics to find out what the next f*cking bill is! I need a car I can rely on totally. THATS where jap cars win hands down.
Yeah but the chances are I won't need so many of thembss325i wrote:Wait until you have to buy parts for a jap car. Not only that but some parts are serious £££!
There are quite a few Japanese specialists about so no problem sourcing parts, plus as Trev said, they don't tend to break down as oftenbss325i wrote:Wait until you have to buy parts for a jap car. Yeah, stuff like filters and body panels.ImysE30 wrote:There are quite a few Japanese specialists about so no problem sourcing parts, plus as Trev said, they don't tend to break down as oftenbss325i wrote:Wait until you have to buy parts for a jap car. New headlights for my Honda Civic (2001) are £65 each +VAT, just bought a new shock absorber and wishbone for £150 which isn't a bad price for new.bss325i wrote:Yeah, stuff like filters and body panels.ImysE30 wrote:There are quite a few Japanese specialists about so no problem sourcing parts, plus as Trev said, they don't tend to break down as oftenbss325i wrote: Wait until you have to buy parts for a jap car. Wait till you need electrical items or suspension parts.
Oh feck me yes , as I sadly know first handbss325i wrote:I agree, jap cars on the whole are reliable but expensive to fix when they go wrong.
I've only heard good things about Lexus. They hardly seem to go wrong.B7 wrote:Datsun 240z?
Early Celica's?
Early Supras?

It's ridiculous making the statement "all jap cars are shit". They have made some seriously good cars. Okay so they lack inspiration in the most and are not "drivers cars"...![]()
Lexus 400's back in 1990 were a serious luxury barge that worried the f*ck out of BMW and Merc. The latter should have been worried too with the total shite they stated to turn out in the later part of the 90's!!
The K11 Micra IS STILL the best cheap small hatch in the cheapy cheap "1st car" bracket (although I will admit finding one with sills is becoming harder)
I've had a few jap cars, 2 x Celica GTI, 2x Mazda MX5, 5 K11 micras over 10 years for various family members, Supra 3.0 non turbo to name the most and every one had more positives over the european equivilants than negatives.
Why do I drive an e39 sport? If I'm honest? The badge! It's f*cking snobbery I know but it's certainly not owned for the build quality thats for sure!!!!![]()
