hi guys, noticed a gonging sound similar to a sound in newer cars when you don't have a seat belt on.
the car has no alarm and i can't work out what it is, its coming from the drivers side cabin near the steering wheel.
whats the gonging noise in my e30????

It's the OBC warning gogng, when the temp outside falls to a certain temp.
Did the OBC indicate a temp when this was going off.

I ask as I'm pretty sure mine is not Temp related.

Yes, you can set it to go off at a particular speed limit.

My 318i use to gong as soon as I switched the ignition on if it was cold enough. Then would gong randomly in dips in the motorway and things when the temp dropped.
My iS doesnt have it though, seriously thinking of switching the clock out for the OBC, but looks more trouble than its really worth. The retro clock is pretty cool.

Quote from Zone Wiki:
"TEMP
Displays exterior temperature. If the temperature falls below 37 degrees F (3 degrees C), the door gong sounds to alert the driver of possible icy road conditions and the display will flash for 8 seconds. The gong will sound again when the temperature rises above 43 degrees F (6 degrees C)."
