Greetings fellow m10'ers or M-tennors
I am ne wto the board and reason for joining is lack of M10 info.
The reason I am choosing the M10 engine for my project is the fact that it is a race bred race proven engine. Based on the Formula 1 turbo engines of the past.
Also the fact that a 4 cylinder turbo is lighter than a 6 cylinder turbo,
u know the old power to weight
and also parts are cheaper and somehow stronger.
Also engine design and simplicity.
I will post some pics on my progress so far. So stay tuned.

The M10 wasn't based on the f1 motor, it was the other way around. Second hand M10 blocks were used as the basis of the 1200 bhp race engine.

And the ones which were apparently the most reliable were the blocks which were just laying around outside in all weathers

Ok Sorry for such a late reply but I was looking for my thread. Can you believe it.
Ok just some history. I am not new to BMW I have done lots on mods to various of my cars but for now I am tackling an E30 with an M10 engine.
I purchased the car from a guy who intended to fix it but never had enough money. The car has a very solid body but the paint was heavily faded so the car looks bad. It had all the engine components in. The guy said he could start the car but it just had a bent valve.
I aksed him not to start the car and I towed it as is.
When it got to my yard I started stripping the car immediately. I removed the engine with fuel injection and everything in the engine bay. I removed gearbox, propshaft etc. I so far have sent the car to a panelbeater to make her presentable..
Dont worry I have pics. Problem I must first loasd it to another site before here.

The first thing I did was to clean everything. OOO do I hate a dirty engine. I think just cleaning everything took two weeks.
Then I stripped the engine. Removed the Cylinderhead and stripped it. I checked the valves and found 2 bent valves. Before replacing everything I decided to port and polsih the ports and swirl the valves. I mean why not . I am here now. I also noticed that the cam has been cut, looks like standard cut to 280 or 290deg. What a luck man.
I just dont wanna go NA again I did it years back and did a best 15.4sec 1/4 mile with shrick 300 and a set of 45 dellortos.
I definitely want a turbo.
