He works with carbon fibre as his job, but due to being busy he doesnt get much time to do things like this. I will point him towards this thread if he is interested in making any more.
Car goes like stink BTW! Slick tyres FTW!
Next jobs= more new pads, another (uprated) clutch
and some mapping as 13mpg average isnt funny at £80 a tank full

You don't do things by halves Dan, Can't wait to see the power figures after mapping!
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

I probably did about the same today Gareth, at Oulton, the tank was brimmed before I set off this morning, 50 odd miles to Oulton, 2:45pm the red lights on so I put another 20 litres in, then had to put another £20 in on the way home

Well, an E36 3.0 M3 driver from the Kumho championships commented on how he struggled to keep up with me on the straights today! When I 'let him past'
I could gain on him in the straights

Which driver was it? You're probably fairly not far off his PTW if it was a class B M3. What suspension do you run on this out of interest?DanThe wrote:Well, an E36 3.0 M3 driver from the Kumho championships commented on how he struggled to keep up with me on the straights today! It was Marsh, ive H&R coilovers on it, the rear springs are on the trailing arms with adjustable seats, great dampers but it could do with being a little softer on the back I think, ive already binned the ARB

Quick cage question, what's involved in getting this cage through the RAC logbooking process for rallying. Do they need to be certified or is that just for FIA use. I'm debating what to do and it seems the very easiest way is just buy a pre certified cage like an OMP one. I sold one of these a while ago as I was going to keep the back seat in then, but they're not that dear at the moment thanks to the exchange rate.
I already have the CL2 custom cages rear cage in place so I could just buy the front half for that, if that's certifiable or if it needs to be certifiable?
The RAC blue book makes my brain hurt...

Collected my freshly painted GRP bonnet and bumper today, only got the bonnet fitted though, bloody good job they made of the paint! The rest of the car is letting it down now

I weighed the standard bonnet and hinge at 18kg, the GRP one is 6.5kg. So with the gas strut/stay and roller guides taken into the equation its 12kg removed from the front

Im being very careful with it at the moment, dont know how long it will last without getting chips scratches from removing/refitting though
So I decided to finally fit the S52 cams ive had for the best part of 2 years
Lid off

New exhaust cam is pretty easy to drop in, get all the nuts on and pull down

Inlet is a bit more difficult, you can barely get half a thread on the cap nuts, its a case of get the cam in the right position, nuts on one end then push the other end down just enough to get the nuts started

Pulled it down slowly and surely and that was that. I do have a tool I made but its bloody tight with the engine in an E30..
Put it all back together and had a bit of a
moment when I started it up it was chugging like a tug boat, could hear gasses going back up the inlet, sounded like the timing was out even though I checked it every way about 3 or 4 times...
Ive done this so many times in the past I was a bit gob smacked TBH
So got the top back off and the timing was indeed smack on, I pulled the plugs out to do a comp test expecting the worst
But I decided to spin it over by hand with the plugs out and noticed something with the cam sensor trigger wheel -

The bastard! Miss-fire on all 6 cylinders
Pair of pliers and its back in action, did a comp test anyway and got a consistent 225psi on every cylinder
Sounds great with these sticks now!
'click for vid' \/

Need to get that cone filter gone though, its snorting like a high profile celeb
Cant wait to get this out on the road

Brilliant Job
Is this a common mod? You couldn't swap cams like this on a S14, it would need mapping right away.
What power will it be producing now?
