Milky Bonnet

Wondered if anyone has any advice - my brilliant rot bonnet has some white 'milky' looking water marks round the edges. I have used Auto Glym clay bar and polished like a demon - looks better but not fixed. I am wary of cutting as I don't know how deep the paint is - its all original so I don't want to screw it up. Any thoughts or tips?

maybe some rubbing compound?

Single stage paint can be treated (carefully) with Autoglym Paint Renovator and loads of polish/wax time. If it's got lacquer on it, it'll be a bit more involved..

e30 paint solids are not to bad in my view, you can colour sand it ( i do not advise this if you have no experience). Best thing to do if you feel competent is to get rubbing compound say G3 go over the whole bonnet plenty of water and just work at it then check again, just remember keep the compound damp. Do it if you feel competent in doing it.
