The 2.0 and the 2.5 are pretty similar consumption wise, the 320 gives you the economy of a 325 but the performance of a 318, albeit silky smooth with it. The 325i will be hell of a lot quicker than a 2.0.

I'm running bilstein b8 shocks and weitec 60mm lowering springs with 15mm drop hats on the front, The weitecs are a nice spring to be honest, if anything a little bit too soft for me but they work really well with the bilsteins and the ride is spot on considering the drop. Bilstein, Eibach, H&R seem to be the way around here. I'm pretty sure weitec come out the same factory as KW, don't hold me to that though. My mate runs weitec coilovers on his mk4 golf and they perform brilliantly. I would have thought the FK stuff would be good for what it costs, never used it though so others might want to give opinions on that?

With suspension u gets what you pays for! but on the other hand, how far you going with the car? If you think you'll be dropping a bigger engine etc in at a later date then in my eyes it would be worth sorting the chassis properly. However if you just wanna slam it and smoke it round till it dies then some ebay stuff will do the job

decisions decisions!

ill have to second that. when i had a small(er) engine (318is e36) it used to drink more fuel than my mates e46 330! might have something to do with the fact that i had to thrash the teats off it to get it to move though :o: e36 is too heavy a car for anything without 6 cyl (inc the 2.0).

on the other hand the 2.0 e30 is quite the cruiser and mine doesnt gobble up hardly any fuel over a 325 so id stay put unless you really need a power hike. super easy conversion to go upto an m20b25 if youre having thoughts winkeye

i think once its lowered, cambered a lil, beefed up rolls bars new rubbers and so on it should handle like a dream and i wont worry about power. still plenty for me anyway.

I doubt it, too busy chopping springs, stretching part worn tyres and hammering arches to be concerned about engines :)

Well I have hammered my arches but my stretched tyres are brand new. :)

If I was Euan the "euro" look would be binned in favour of a 2.5. Just how many 320's still have a 2.0 in them anyway?

great advice! im in the same situation as you, i have a 320i and it could probably do with a tad more low end torque (LOL@A Tad) but other than that the 6pot has a very smooth delivery. i was going to go down the cheap coilover route but in the long run you'll appreciate the ability to adjust your damp. settings. i had fk's on my mk2 golf and it handled amazing!! but ate through bearings every couple of months. eventually the money you spend on repairs will equal that of a propa set in the first place.

buy once and never look back. ..

Air to go -60? WTF? Air is gay, completely pointless to get a static look. Bags are for gays and women.

and after i put the new ones in today from a cavalier lol bit more ground friendly

just fitted my new brakes and camber plates today (not in the pics yet) and dropped the front a little more. not long to go now!!!!! you decided what drop youre after yet? :D
What mm drop is the first and last pics?? I can't run socket height as that pic shows but a few inches higher. I'm a bit more concerned about a reverse rake situation happening with shocks/springs. but coil-overs just don't seem worth it.

1st pic the fronts dropped about 45/50mm, the back is about 90/95mm, in the last pic the front is the same (not now its another 3mm but not pictured) and the backs raised about 35mm up so about 60/65mm drop. gonna sell those ultra low custom springs, im sure someone will want their car lifting cats eyes on trampdrift or what not :)

ive had my share of immaculate cars, just about everything ive owned from day 1 has been something ive had to polish at least once a week with unkerbed rims etc, too much effort so i thought id go for my 1st rat with this old beast. loads of cars done in satin black but not total 'chalkboard' black lol. not to everyones taste and prob is a bit council but at least i dont have to lock it away in the garage for half the year due to a bit of rain and salt, or arse washing it, its built to be ragged and the odd bit of rust or scratch will only add to its character. that and the M50 tucked under the hood means stay the fook outta my way winkeye

i like it anyway :D

cheers dude! i come from a vw background, used to have a mean golf 1.8T. if id gone out and bought a sport or say a decent 318is i would have gone down the immaculate route again which i specifically didnt want to do. i actually wanted a bit of a sh1t can so like you said i dont have to give a fook. ive wanted to do a rat look for ages and a £400 e30 as my base was ideal. there was a field of choice and this was the closest and cheapest :)

i didnt intend to fit the m50 either, that was just an idea that i got from the bloody zone! not complaining now its in though!!! :)

if i get bitten by the polishing bug again i can always can the rat and swap all the bits into a nice shiny shell from a decent priced 320 or what not. wouldnt take too long as most of the mods to mine will all bolt straight over, no 2nd guessing or pipe bending etc + i would know exactly what not and what to look out for thanks to the zone :D
