id really appreciate that mate thanks. ideally id go 60/50 but they dont do kits and i dont wanna buy 2 kits just for the springs to mix and match etc. fuck it, il just go 60/60 and get a large hammer out. im replacing the rear arches anyway ( mine are rusty so il roll them before i put em on, then can edit em )BATTS91 wrote:60mm will be fine fella just depends on how good you can roll an arch i can just about fit a pack of 20 cigs on there side under my chassis and front can and will be going lower with a bit of modding to the inner arch using specialist tools (big hammer) to stop rubbing on lock when sideways aslong as she looks original as poss on outside bodywork im not fussed ill get sum pics up tomoz and show how low![]()

well if your going to replace your arches consider this way , weld them in standard then before you start slapping the filler on roll them on the car , we do this with a bar or with sockets by putting the wheel on and driving the car back and fourth very slowly being carefull not to crack paint (not to matter in your case )but still do slowly then once happy that its not going to rub whip the wheel of get the hammer out and either a dolly or use another hammer wraped in a rag to protect paint and knok the standard lip flat with some sealant behind it so no shite gets stuck in there and starts the rust process again this is on the rear
the front you should be fine not needing rolling but depending on how low you go you might need the mallet just above the chassis rail to stop rubbing on lock to lock , i am running 16x9 kerscher karmonas all round get some nice streched tyres too bud vw-will is on here running gaz coilovers im just as low as him if not he beats me abit and his got an m20 lump with custom homemade engine mounts raised using box section and hockey pucs im just solid raised 15mm with m50 this helps not to smash ya sump , bit long winded but hope this will help ya

long winded = details and details help noobs like me
il do as u say, iv seen the ghetto arch rolling methods with the scaffold pole and heat gun, i wont need to worry about paint, so il just find a bar narrow enough to acheive the flush and wide enough to work. if ur just as low as i want and running the same size wheels im not going to worry too much atal.
once theyr on and done il get plenty rubber arch sealant shit on there, there was so much rust on this bucket when i bought it if i see rust again il hang mysel. il beat the front lipped bit flat just to make sure

its mainly in the middle of the arch then towards the back of the car that the wheels rub on the back , personally scaffold is miles too big i used a small socket then used a small bar for a lil 2.5tonne trolley jack i have , make sure your tyre is pumped up and ground is dry to prevent wheel spinning , when you drive the car back and fourth get a pal to drive make sure he can drive haha and tell him to find the biting point on the clutch first or you may have a few dramas on your hands ,
heat guns are handy yes but with the e30's you dont need to roll the that much ive found so u seem to be ok , ill get a couple of pics up during the day for ya and my tyres sizes as my front is diffrent from rear just to give you some ideas and help you along ya way to low euro rudeness if your going as low as ya nans nips be prepared for some chassis scrapage on harsh speedbumps lol

il leave the scaffold out haha, il get somethin a little smaller and more suited. il probably get dad to hold the bar and il drive.
its lucky where i live there are no speedbumps really, and i just wont go near any

Mate I'm a new fish too and find things frustrating..... I have been modding mk2 golfs for 10 years and now have an e30 and all my drop/wheel knowledge counts for nowt. I'm gonna drop my touring over 9x15 bbs rm's this spring. But don't worry about getting 9x16 borbets on, there's a 325i cab down the road from me and he has them well tucked. with 9's a bit of stretch helps and looks cool.verde wrote:long winded = details and details help noobs like me

Happy dayz........send me pics...I love wheel porn.
that looks sweet! loving the stretch. i need some angle on the fronts of mine so ive ordered some camber plates. if that doesnt work i need more stretch on my already stretched tyes.
the backs fine though, i might actually go up a size to get a bit more tread/wall to put the power down a bit. 215/40s dont grip all that well!

BATTS91 that is absolute badman fitment, thats a nice stance youve achieved there, im hoping to get a similar thing going, really looks excellent.
henry, really looking forward to seeing your touring dropped. theres a few iv seen on stanceworks and google images, they look amasing, so long and low when done well.
thanks for the pictures and advice guys. pretty confident with the right amount of beating and persuading my arches should be no issue for my borbets on a 60/60 drop

I can give you pix of mine on 60's all round, it's a bit low for daily driving TBH unless you live somewhere with lovely smooth roads! (i.e. not in England) that's why I'm going for air (2400 fitted) my arches were rolled, watch out for the socket and bar trick, if your arches aren't in perfect nick then you can crack the paint / filler / rust and cause yourself a stack of grief.. a rubber arch roller which bolts onto the hub is £100 and will give you hours of pleasure rolling arches on everything in your garage!.. I have flattened the upper inner arch line as well to accomodate big rims on full drop, I've been looking at image and schmidt rims for the spring but I do know someone with polished monoblock merc wheels so I might give them a spin, we'll see... if anyone doesn't like your modding ideas, give them the finger and laugh at the turd in their sig which looks just as council / lack of imagination / lack of basic knowledge.. "well, I've never done it but I've heard that it's bad and BMW owners frown upon it.. blah blah blah" sheep..

So.....it is really not worth me buying coil-overs??? if sump clearance is such a danger. Your 60 kit looks good, and you are running 15's same as I'll be.
oops......I have to own up and say I'm a bit of an air hater Tom, it works on some cars, other not so......and is hells practical.......but I'm just not sure.
It's just everywhere in the modded dub scene at the min... it's like the new BBS.
Who is doing the work???? Ravern is supposed to be the king of air.
Peace

yeah but explain technically why you hate air? I mean, modern air.. which isn't just some old balloons under there!savagehenry wrote:So.....it is really not worth me buying coil-overs??? if sump clearance is such a danger. Your 60 kit looks good, and you are running 15's same as I'll be.

the trouble with the dub scene is that people hate things just because everyone else does... full of sheep...
and yes, Rayvern are doing the work

What about modifying a car in exactly the way everyone else does, then crying because people think it looks sh1t. If you say you don't want your car to look the same as all the others, why are you slamming it on "air" and putting wide wheels on it???
I'm sure I've seen chariots looking like that before? Are you not a sheep?
Your car looks the best it's ever looked since youve remove all the mod tat!
Hey just my opinion, don't all you seen bummers start crying now.

Air to go -60? WTF? Air is gay, completely pointless to get a static look. Bags are for gays and women.Tom_Maverick wrote:I can give you pix of mine on 60's all round, it's a bit low for daily driving TBH unless you live somewhere with lovely smooth roads! Using decent coilovers.. (1/2 the cost of air), and it rides absolutely fine, even on rubber bands and 18's, and I do 20k odd a year dailying this thing. Only 1 speed bump causes me issue, and it's a bad one.
I used to have a similarly low E30, and again, no issues (on decent coilovers).

If you don't like it then don't comment. They probably laugh at ticking factory spec boxes for a great outlay. Fair play to them so long as there's no bitching from either side.

Chris
a few euros... do they really look that bad?
i for one wouldn't mind seeing an e30 on bentley alloys i mean they have the arches for it so it shouldn't be an issue.. im not saying ital look the dogs bollocks but somebody must have tried it..
im heading down the euro road, low and wide is the way forward. personally I'm looking for a set of e36 motorsport alloys with 5stud adapters. i think with the right slam and stretch ital sit nice...

yess thats the black one i saw, on the bently wheels. had a photo of the guy standing next to it with a machine gun.
who gives a fuck if theres council activity on this thread. have u seen how council my car already is? its on 17s with cut springs and a twin 3 inch end can its also white with bad history, nothing i can do will make it worse than that.

Try slamming it 100mm and sticking some 'bennies' (FFS) on it, it will then be worse, much worse.........

It's possible to do 'euro', 'stance' etc without being council! The e30 lends itself well to deep dish basketweave wheels, and they do look very aggressive when low with wide wheels. However its all about knowing how far to go before you start compromising drivability etc. No point in having an e30 if you can't give it a pasting, the chassis and the way it drives is the e30's biggest strength, take the enjoyabilty factor out of driving one and you have a prestigiously badged mk2 jetta. I'm not an OEM homo by the way, i'm 75/60 on 8 and 9x16's
Use decent gear and anythings possible, but remember that no matter what you do you will attract lovers and haters in equal measures..........but be nice to the haters on here, the more they hate modifying usually means the more they know about e30's, so lets all play on the same team

haha was about to say matt thats a severe drop u have there, thats not for children. looks very mean though.
i dont hate the oem guys atal but i just think that its not their car so dont tell me what i can and cant do to it. i would like to stick on some decent bbs but as an 18 year old part time barman i cant throw around 1500 bucks at a set of hoops

Thats fair enough mate, i cringe to think what i was doing to my car when i was 18 so your already winning by having an e30 in the first place!
My drop doesn't really cause me any hassle at all to be honest, I've got an Alpina snow plough on it now aswell and i don't hit anywhere. Granted you have to always bear it in the back of your mind and it helps if you know the roads well, but avoid trying to drive over a field and low lows don't cause as much hassle as some make out.

well thats my attitude man. least iv not got a saxo with a bin can silencer and halfords rims. some guy at work was winding me up for only driving a 2.0i, i was like dude im 18, i dont think the insurance companies would applaud me for having the e34 m5 i fancy.
im surprised u dont have much hassle with bumps with that kinda drop cos it looks like its trying to dig up the road. im sure il be fine with 60/60

The only thing that ever really catches if its a massive bump is my middle box, i think my exhaust rubbers are tired anyway cos it wobbles a bit so that might sort it, it doesnt catch often though.
Fairplay to you anyway, i bet a 320i kills you on fuel doesn't it? My advice to you mate is just save save save, as the old saying goes, if you're gonna do something, do it properly! get some quality suspension and you will have the stance but it won't ride like a second hand mattress, same goes for wheels, the cheaper they are the heavier they tend to be which feels horrible on such a smooth handling little car like this. Quality over quantity, do less things but use better stuff and your e30 and you will both be loving it!

ah see that shouldnt be a bother with me, im gettin rid of the middle box and going full on straight, il try get a 2 inch pipe all along so its a nice tinny rasp, i hate council type booming sound.
alot of people did tell me that it would be more ecconomical to put a 2.5 in it cos it doesnt have to work hard, but my insurance would double. as for suspension i was thinking about like an apex kit. maybe weitec or fk but im kinda confused as to which
