A chip gives a worthwhile improvement on these, assuming yours is a later Motronic one. winkeye

Why not post a dyno plot of the engine so we can see where we are starting from?

no, even if you tried to step on my feet you'd have hard time as i always wear steel toe caps, ready to put the boot in else where

i simply made the post as the OP being a spactard had 2 identical threads going, one of which was locked so i thought it would be in his interests to know that there are several similar opinions from which he may learn how to improve his car.

green dulux isnt one of them

I found a Speedtouch chip and a 4.47 (or something similar) diff helped perk mine up as a cheap quick upgrade. But anymore than that then look into all the other suggestions in the thread

Tech help, gentlemen!

to the op.. It's not really worth spending much on a 2 litre to make it more powerful because you soon reach the point where an engine swap is more cost effective. Give it a good service and a chip with a good reputation and that's about it. (IMO).

As mentioned, take out the 2.0 and fit a 2.5. Don't bother with fitting a bigger throttle body as it does nothing. The only decent mod to make a standard 2.0 engine quicker is to fit a chip, as mentioned, makes it rev better and makes it feel a slight bit faster.

Not true I'm afraid.

I fitted a 325i throttle body to a 320i and it made quite an improvement. The chip I had fitted did help, but the engine needed more air and a bigger TB did the job.
Plastic bumper 320i's have Motronic 1.3 which is an economy biased system set up to run a catalyst. As such they run very lean so a remap to give it more fuelling.
