Hi all,

My air con is an original rotary type from a E30 320i car. It cools fine no problem.

When I switch off the car power, before the engine comes to a complete halt I can hear the decelerating fans always making a noise

like .... tat tat tat tat tat ......

I was told this sound is coming from the air condition compressor. Has any one here come across this kind of problem. What did you guys do to get rid of this sound.

What kind of servicing can be done for these types of compressors?

TQ

It's hard to say for sure without hearing it, but I would say it's probably not the compressor.

More than likely it's the engine cooling fan, or the auxiliary cooling fan (the electric one on the front of the radiator) that's making the noise.

Try spinning them by hand to see if they make any noise.

Ian.
