E38 M52 sump

Hi guys,

Scrapyards are cottoning on to the potential value of E34 M50 sumps so going on the advice of the sticky thread I have been searching for an E38 sump. I've got one lined up but thought I would double check a few things on RealOEM - looks like it's similar to the E36 sump opposed to the E34:

Can anyone confirm that the E38 sump is definitely good to use? Thanks.

Hi Dan, I managed to get the guy to send a pic and went ahead and bought it. Based on the prices I had got from people scrapping E34's, the E38 sump was a third of the cost!
I had heard of RealOEM sending a few curve balls but had never come across it myself


I sold the old conversion to Ant before I could even get it finished - think he said the plans were to put the lump in another shell and put an M20 back in the Sport, that was a long time ago though. Shame really as I found my old spreadsheet of parts/costs and looking back I wasn't too far away from completion. Hopefully get the new one completed this time..!

Haha, hey Kedge long time no speak mate!

Once I got rid of the old project I sort of steered clear of cars, was trying to save a bit of cash to go travelling (which rocked!!) and got back into a bit of mountain bike racing when I returned so all money got tied up there.


A few weeks ago I managed to track down my dad's old car from 1964, never seen the old boy so happy about a (former) posession - I instantly thought that if I owned a car that would still fucking rock in 47 years time it would be an E30, so here I am....

If it helps theres anE34 M50 in my local breakers with sump on,they wont remove it though.

Got it sorted thanks, found an E38 breaker on Ebay, managed to get it all for £27 delivered.

Are you anywhere near Tavistock mate? Been down that way a couple of times this year, only takes about 2 hours!

Fairplay mate, welcome back. Can't fault you on wanting a break from cars, i tried that but it really didn't last very long
