How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.
Some useful BMW tips on thereDuke137 wrote:http://www.trampdrift.com/

what, ACTUALLY raced it competitively as a drift car or just got a bit out of shape on a wet roundabout?rob0r wrote:Out of curiosity, has any of the naysayers actually drifted a 318is before?
I have and mine was just fine at it. I was running lowering springs and a locked diff, that was it. Happy days!
Drifting is for mugs who can't do quick IMO...

drifting isn't for everyone, but neither is buffing your car to within an inch of its life for show season, each to their own as them that can drift 'properly' have skills IMOTom_Maverick wrote:what, ACTUALLY raced it competitively as a drift car or just got a bit out of shape on a wet roundabout?rob0r wrote:Out of curiosity, has any of the naysayers actually drifted a 318is before?

EDIT: Looking at the Trampdrift site, rob0r are you a drift champ or something, I noticed you have your own hoody in the merchandise section? As do a couple of other zoner names?

best to have shit car to learn to drift in. if your 318iS is any good best to give to someone who will look after it. if it is shit in the sense it has been shagged left right and centre probably be alright.

aaah.. but we're entering different territory here (by the way mine is a daily driver, after my respray someone has already dented the wing and its covered in birdslash right now outside work.. it's deffo not a show-queen) I know a thousand kids who 'talk' drift but actually mean sliding out of control in the wet..Duke137 wrote:drifting isn't for everyone, but neither is buffing your car to within an inch of its life for show season, each to their own as them that can drift 'properly' have skills IMOTom_Maverick wrote:what, ACTUALLY raced it competitively as a drift car or just got a bit out of shape on a wet roundabout?rob0r wrote:Out of curiosity, has any of the naysayers actually drifted a 318is before?

I'm not a big fan of show queens either but drift does seem to attract a certain type of dickhead.. (I don't mean everyone, but lots I have met in the scene) and it is fairly boring.. oh he's sideways.. oh he's sideways again.. on the other hand if an ACTUAL racing driver gets it a bit sideways while hammering round a track then thats a whole different boardgame..

Drifting on the streets is plain retarded. I did a fair few drift days in my iS and it coped just fine. Mostly 2nd gear stuff on smallish tracks but also on the fast track at RAF Marham.Tom_Maverick wrote:what, ACTUALLY raced it competitively as a drift car or just got a bit out of shape on a wet roundabout?rob0r wrote:Out of curiosity, has any of the naysayers actually drifted a 318is before?

LOL no, I'm amateur at best. A few have got hoodies as we go to Santa Pod drift days and have no idea who's who.Duke137 wrote:EDIT: Looking at the Trampdrift site, rob0r are you a drift champ or something, I noticed you have your own hoody in the merchandise section? Sod it Im gona take the advise and use something else.although my car is not a genuine is it would be a real shame to kill it as it is quit a nice example and in a r .are colour.looks like I will be getting 328i.and keeping my is clean and pampered.

having said all this the e30 is a very good base to learn car control when you're sideways, if you're not mechanically sympathetic don't bother busting the iS up, but have a play once you're comfortable aiming the e30 sideways at stuff, the e36 328 will be a doddle..
I have been driving a e30 for nearly 9 years now I have had a 320 325 327 and a 318is.I do love them and as u would expect after driving one for that long I'm used to a bit off sideways action so I no they r capable for drifting its just they r starting to get a bit thin on the ground now and realistically I would be very upset if I smashd mine as I have spent a lot on it over the years it has full m3 bushs bilstein shocks eibach springs supersport full stainless exhaust.caliber vintage 17" wheels.leather bucket seats and leather rear bench. I eod just getting impatient on waiting to get drift car lol would be silly to kill this one

I have drifted my is at Barkston Heath, no one could believe I was using it as it's my daily and in very nice nick too....nor could they believe that it wasn't a 325.... all day totally sideways 2nd /3rd gear (when it had a 3.64 lsd) and NO understeer (unlike my 325!)
Learn with the is somewhere like Oulton's drift circuit is perfect handling is sweet, but put thicker roll bars (F+R) to allow back end to come out better and welded diff or lsd to maintain momentum, along with some Korean plastic tyres blown up to about 45 psi!
But most of all just have some FUN!!!!
