I just got my E30 recently and I am in New Zealand. Well the issue is when I go pass the 90Km/h mark the car seems to go into a massive vibrating frenzy. This is real bad shuddering thats felt throughout. Initially I thought it was the tyres but I think this isn't the case. When I stop accelerating even at higer speeds the vibration stops.
Any idea where Ii should start looking...also noticed some fluid weep on the steering boot cover...any relation to this issue?

Worn control arm bushes cause vibrations at certain speeds, but check track rod ends as well.
If this is a power rack, and the end bellows have steering fluid in them, then your rack is dying, but I doubt if this is anything to do with the vibration.

also try having a look at the prop.
the centre bearing or one of the uj's could be worn.

my money is on the rubber guibo coupling on the front of the prop...
also, give the rear wheel bolts a check to be on the safe side!

I read the OP as vibration felt through the steering wheel, but if it's general vibration throughout the car, then gareth and/or Glenn could be right.`

Sorry guys have been away for awhile , there is some more infor pertaining the vibration. As I was driving today I noticed that the problem only occurs when the gear shift takes place at about 85Km/Hour. When the gear drops the vibration goes away.
As I am currently also facing down shift problems when the tranny is cold, I am just wondering if these two are inter- related. Could it possibly be a broken gear tooth or something?

I am trying to figure out if it would be more worthwhile for me to just swap the transmission out or should I overhaul it?.
