chargeable torch

i've just ordered a glove compartment chargeable torch without first checking that my car can accomodate it. Were they fitted to every E30, and where exactly do they sit?

Not sure on lhd E30s but on a rhd car if you open the glovebox there is a to pin socket on the left side of the glovebox.

If you undo the two straps that stop the glovebox openning too far you'll be able to spot it easily. There's also a wire running round the back to the charger socket.

If you've got the two pins in the glovebox then you can charge a torch. Just make sure you buy one for the E30 though as the later cars had bigger torches (that don't fit) - plenty going on ebay all the time, usually under a tenner.

All E30's were fitted with the adaptor to take the rechargeable torch. You can buy them quite cheap from the dealership. Do not get talked into buying one on ebay thinking that you are getting a deal with them at Ԛ£20. They are if I remember around Ԛ£12 brand new. They do not throw out much light though.

A friend of mine managed to change the set up and fit them with a much brighter bulb set up.

There are 2 available; just make sure that you order the one for the E30.

Or you can buy a halogen light that you plug into the cigarette lighter for around Ԛ£20. I've got one and it really throws of a good light.

probably worth going for.

as long as its clarified on ordering, that would best be confirmed over the phone, but they are reliable over the email too

datourer, thats the glovebox version, i fancy the cigar style, as i can leave it pluged in and use it to light up the front of the cabin until i get a map mirror

Actually, i just noticed that the seller is in my home town, and i'm going back there next month. Just a thought, but if the postage is horrendous i could pick it up and send it from here. Amsterdam to Denmark may work out cheaper
