Managed to get the car ready, just, for the track day on the 4th of November. Had a last minute glitch with the fan falling apart, but sorted it on Thursday afternoon. Bit worried bout driving an untested car all the way down, racing round all day and then driving it home without breakdown cover, but held together apart from the studs coming lose on a rear wheel.

The 2.8 M20 engine is an absolute peach, super torquey and sweet revving, with the 75% LSD it's easy to steer it on the throttle. had a short dice with a chap with a lovely 325 sport with a ported and polished head and very nice custom made stainless system, my standard spec M20B28 was a good chunk faster in a straight line. It kept up with a well driven e36 M3 evo acceleration wise. 4.45 diff is perfect for the track too, keeps engine on the boil between changes

Improvements needed: must be lower, better tyres, much better tyres.

What was the weather like? Track days are for nothing (price wise) at the moment, but a wet one would ruin it for me!

I run Toyo r888's on mine and the amount of grip is fantastic! It does look very high btw.

Wet in the morning, took a long time to dry out though, wasn't properly dry until after lunch.

The Toyo Proxes cheap versions I've got were terrible in the wet, without any exaggeration I could barely touch the throttle without the car trying to swap ends whilst it was wet coming out of corners. Dry was great though, although the height and softness of the suspension was severely tested.

Nice job Nick 8)
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

There are much better tyres on the market than the R888 that cost the same amount of money.

What suspension do you run?

standard but new Bilstein B4's, power flex all round and alloy top mounts. Standard IS springs at the moment. What tyres are we talking about by the way?

I need good all rounders really, wet grip is quite important.

Cheers

Standard dampers really need to go before you stiffem anything up, you need to go coilovers or custom wound springs for track work tbh. Any lowering springs are intended for the road and will always be a compromise. Remember dampers before springs too.

Tyre wise, dunlop cant be beaten. A tad more expensive that r888's but miles apart in terms of grip, sidewall stiffness and longetivity. The toyos are very bad value now since the prices shot up.
