Check the rubber boot thoroughly (between air flow meter and throttle body) as it can be split underneath where you can't see it, letting un-metered air into the engine.

check the breather pipe under the TB, it runs from the rockerbox to the stub on the side of the body, these are normally toasted by engine heat and split right where you cant see it.

If you cant find any leaks, check the TPS is making contact correctly at idle, and get the idle mix checked, if its lean/rich the car will hunt, the ICV often makes any issues worse as it shuttles to maintain the mapped idle speed.

Ant, the does the breather pipe come from left hand side, top of rocker cover and if so should it be clipped as I can pull mine off 8O easily, also seems to leak a little oil.
cheers

not sure mine just runs to the cover bolt to the left, pipe dosen't seem long enough to get a clip on it. Where'd everybody go??

there should be a jubilee clip on it to tighten it to the stub on the rocker cover

Sounds like everyone needs a new breather hose  , its a few Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£ from the stealer and easily fitted, worth the effort I'd say, if its not the cure its another "maybe" off the list

the breather is vented behind the throttle plate ,any air leak there is unmetered and will cause all sorts of strange running, the cold start enrichment adds more fuel so can mask the symptoms.

nice car Kenwoir !

And when everones' sorted out their air leaks, there's always the blue temp. sensor.
