Has anyone ever tried those gadgets that you put in-line with the fuel line that converts 95ron fuel to 98/100 ron fuel?

are they any good -I saw one in a classic car mag for Ԛ£65 and thought it might cut my fuel bill a bit.

No such thing. It would be like turning lead into gold.

I think you can get Octane boosters, but they are a fluid you put in your petrol tank.

Apart from the fact that these things are pure snake oil, how do you think going from 95 RON to 98/100 RON is going to cut your fuel bill (or have any effect whatsoever) on an engine without kinock sensors?
I run on 110 RON fuel, and it makes no difference to performance or fuel consumption at all.
