if you have done any mod like this i would be keen for chats ..
also is it possible to put 318is shocks and springs on a pre facelift chromie 316 M10 4 door?

Regarding the suspension question - the only thing I can think of is that you'd need the complete suspension legs as the shocks are the thicker 51mm diameter than the 45mm that came with the 316 as standard.

As said on another post, the weber is not cheap. An engine swap might even be cheaper, although more hassle. Have a search around the forum as plenty have already done this swap.

For example - this helpful post below should be in the wiki

That Pierburg 2BE is bloody awful though so I understand you want to change it.

hi toby,

cheers dude for the info, i wasn't sure if the shocks would fit, i didn't do any work on my old I.S. so didn't know the mm.

thanks for the link, the m10 is a good puller for such little horse's but the trottle and mix is slow as winter.. not much impact at all compared to the M42 which is quite fun..

i'm not looking for massive horse's but just a little punch without to much mod, its an immaculated chromie with 24k on the clock, it would be a shame to molest it too much..

cheers man!! : :D

thanks lads, got me on the right track,

i am looking at the manual choke version weber 32/36 DGV 5A Manual choke, but i am unsure if this uprated one will fit the inlet manifold, i read that the thread is different on these compared to the pierburg thingy thats on it?

know anything about a solex inlet manifold for m10 that will fit this carb?

thanks.

I just replaced my $&%* Pierburg 2BE with a Weber that I ordered in england from www.webcon.co.uk, it's the 2267092500 Weber model for manual trans.
My mecanic specialist installed it in 1 hour with tuning.
I'm not sure if it's because of the good sound it makes (with K&N filter) but I feel like it's much more power than with stock Pierburg.
Well worth the buy and very happy with it !

I've got a 32/34 DMTL Weber coming off my 1981 316 M10. It's got the manifold, adapter plater, and manual choke cable - everything you need to fit to an M10. It was rebuilt a few months ago (have receipts) using a proper Weber service kit. It's also been jetted for the M10. Since they go for £250 new and £80-£100 used I think £160+P&P is a fair price considering the condition.

I'm aware that's a high price for what it is, but I'm just trying to recoup money I've put into it. I'll freely admit you'll get a cheaper one on ebay! Still, shoot me a PM if interested.

Based in Wales and have supplied both my M10 conversion - Think it was about £270-280 for the Webcon kit made for the E30 316, best money i've spent on a car.

Reviving an old thread, but I'm interested in sticking a new carb on my 316.

The problem I have though, is it's an automatic. I see the normal Weber DMTL conversion has an automatic option, but ideally I wanted to fit a DGV.

Has anyone had any experience fitting carbs to an automatic before? Is the cable to the gearbox purely for kickdown, or does it let the gearbox know how much load the engine is under?

Is it worth going for the DGV over the DMTL?

Any answers would be great :D

A manifold adapter from M10 to 2 twin webers would be great if anyone has one? :)

You can buy manifolds from Webcon for twin 40's. They're expensive but you're not going to get one of the same quality for less.

Something like those is not a direct simple replacement.

Toby: Thanks for the picture showing the manual choke install.
I was wondering where it could go, without sticking in your face.
