Another milestone in this project's progress:

Enlist the aid of company personnel/assets to place the car here:

Its in its summer house no waiting on BBB's tame welder to have a look prior to going north for final prep and paint
Oh and a quick shot of some doner pannels for a laugh...

Appreciate any input, [/quote]
I think now would be a good time to offer up/temp bolt in a pedal box to make sure all is well ?
IIRC there are a few captivated bolts that will need welding in place, the RHD M3 I am doing used nuts and bolts and were a complete Pita to get to,
one or 2 of the nuts/bolts were in the inner wheel arch behind the wing
have you fitted a steering column to see if it all lines up ? and doubled up the steel where it goes through the bulkhead?
these guys didn't, it was weak around this area and the column was wobbly
the metal here on all E30's is very thin, not helped by the rust of course !

Indeed dude, much appreciated, the column and pedel box have gone in already and all was well though i will be asking for a second look at the fabrication to finish off the RHD.e30topless wrote: I think now would be a good time to offer up/temp bolt in a pedal box to make sure all is well ?

It certainly still needs the mounts for the glovebox and also the throttle stop bracket, i did ask previously in chat (but to no avail)
Do you/Does anyone know the etk number for the bracket? Easier than robbing a somewhat suspect one from another shell...

Yeah was all good dude,Jhonno wrote:Seems it went ok then dude.. Will probably get a poke around on Mon.
Not much difference between now and last time you saw it with the exception of the sunroof tray.
I really need to sort through and work out where half the sodding bits have been put that came out and put them into logical packed order...

LOL! its far from built yet Dave,d6dph wrote:Goose, You really do know how to build a tasty car! Can't wait to see this.
Are you using my mate Matty for the welding?
Yes i asked Matt if he'd be kind enough to work out what still needs welding.
To my mind a section of the inner sill fwd on both sides,
The lip around the roof to sunroof tray aperture needs building back up as well as the spot welds have been cut out rather overtly,
Aside from that and a fewother bits shes golden...

Haha!
Yes i suppose i do nit pick a little, although given that i've owned this two years now i'm tempted to just reassemble the fooker and drive it around in primer...
Er, no...
Ah well, forward and all that, you about next weekend Dave, Dan1 + Dan2?

not sure on availability on the brackets, most are NLA? I doubt the donor one's will be rotted so carefully picking them off the donor is an option ?
the RHD M3 i am doing has had a RHD bulkhead grafted in to try keep all this "factory"
I will post more pics if needed

Still trying to decide on suspension,
Nath hows yours on the m3 springs? Might look to buy back the front springs from the dakar possibly as i'm leaning toward standard rears and B8 dampers all round...
The shell is relocated now for further work so hopefully in a few weeks some serious progress will be made,

I am on e36 ACS coilovers and it is perfect in my mind
However, in the beginning i ran e30 6 pot Eibach's and B8's and this was also very good. In fact if the roll bars where fitted before the coilovers i'm sure i would still have the Eibach/billie combo. Will be in touch soon!!

Spamming my own thread this evening, 1 week to go until i get to see the initial month's work and i have to say for the 1st time in a fooking long time i'm excited about this progressing.
Wondering if anyone knows the part number for the BMW special tool for wheel bearing replacement? Thinking about investing for the rear end rebuild as most of the parts are starting to gather dust.
As for shell news, apparently there was a slight differance in the c pillers which will need addressing and the underside should have been stripped

Minor update with pictures to follow in the morning,
Collected the front and rear screens earlier today, now, these hadn't been cleaned since the thorn bush and were looking fooked in epic proportions,
After some auto glym and a lot of swearing the front screen came up fairly well, its a graduated tint screen with one or two noticable small scratches, the only real issue is the seperation of the black boarder backing to the glass along some of the edges. Going to do some photo scouring to work out how much will be hidden by the rubber seal that surrounds it but for the effort that im going to to with this i'm thinking new screen, with this a spare or a sale contribution toward a new one,
Rear cleaned up nicely, just some new trim surrounds and it'll be good to go again,
Anyone have any advice on the above, also, is there a les painful way of removing the bonding strips still attached to the screens?

Pictures,

And the front screen,

And the areas of niggling doubt,

The area that has been cleaned has come up well, i'm still leaning toward new top tint screen though,

Rubber trim doesn't cover much on these mate. If the black bonding line is looking worse for wear then I'd fit a new one. It could be a problem in the future like leaks or wind noise. Scratches can also be a pain in the ass, once you know where they are it will bug you forever. I work for Autoglass so I can see how much a new one comes in at unless you want genuine. Hth

Thank you Gentlemen,
Clive if you could kindly enquire as to price i'd appreciate it as an option to consider,
Baz, Cheers dude, hopefully catch up with you at the next BBB BBQ,
Magpie, I re-read it myself last night, epicly council FTW! I picked up my second set of 15' BBS' that have just been painted in Nogaro with standard silver lips, i think decounciling the Moordoor is well past time now i can justify going bufty on it
I'm expecting another invoice for continuing work on the M3 as of later this coming weekand my intention is to go over and take some pictures of the car as proper substantial progress hasn't been shown in this thread for a fooking age now...
That been said i do enjoy spamming my own threads

Right updates then i guess,
Went over to have a look earlier today and very pleased with progress made thus far.
The shell as you will remember was primed ready for blocking back and painting, the last month has been spent having various suspect areas examined in closer detail, most noticably around the back end and rear rails.
These areas have received a further dose of media blasting and priming resulting in this:

Still some brown stuff left to eradiate but the task is well in hand

Glad the roof is in primer now, its cleaned up well, the boxed sections around it will be unpicked and cleaned out prior to the tray being refitted,

All thats left now seems to be surface, some new metal will be let in in the frilly sections,
Could be ready for collection as early as January at this rate,

Better pull my thumb out with the oily bits!
Thanks for reading

Well a visit to Nath at BBB today with Jhonno and Dan resulted in morsels being brought back,
BTB S50 manifold

Zero exhaust system, the pipes are hiding but are straight through from the manifold to the backbox, ASBO exhaust note FTW

Carbon bonnet, soon to be Alpine white III'd

And a replica SE front undertray, the quality is excellent! -Thanks Uwe!

Things are coming together
