3,000miles on a set of tires - fair enough I say, tires are there for a reason guys....
I'm in total disbelief I got 11 months from a set of a539's - that totaly was ridic - apart from lacking commitment in the wet, they were bloody brilliant 195.50's - possibly because they were on the RS's the whole wheel attitude was in favour of the tire? I dunno, but they were great
Nice tubes Dan
Lee, you need to re decorate your kitchen

I am tempted by a X pipe but whether I get round to obtaining one before fitting these will remain to be seen
Dez - the outer tread blocks are completely gone
Barx - naah, it's rented so I ain't spending on the place, although work started yesterday on £5k worth of bathroom (completely gutting it back to the studwork and replacement foor etc). Landlady will put the rent up if I ask for more
Strange living in a rented house when we own a place down in Norwich which we rent out ourselves

kitchen or bathroom.. toughie, but I think you'll appreciate the bathroom more
I was thinking about renting this place out, but as I've been mortgage free since '06, there's no urgency to do anything until the market has sure signs of moving in the right direction - current eco climate suggests staying put, so I'm going to sit this winter out and re-assess in the new year.
I have a really good fabricator (not dissing Dans' skillz but) if you want an X pipe making up - www.alunox.co.uk

He's just down the road from me

I can get a stainless 2" diameter x-pipe from jetex for £48, how does that compare to your man?

In which case, I'm fairly sure your pocket will be happier with an off-the-shelf jetex
He won't be beating £48 that's for sure, but it may not be far off. It is one of his lines as you can see, so there have be some previous r&d work there. I've no idea as for jetex quality or functionality, but £48 is neither here nor there considering the potential gains

very difficult to say, but its' effect is present through most of the rev range.. it wouldn't be fitted to if it wasn't deemed necessary by companies who do the R&D

You can just make it out in this pic of the compete M52 exhaust system I pulled from the donor 328i breaker here.
It is located pretty far back, i'd guess rear footwell area at least

It's pretty complex but mainly there to stop pulsing, and aide high speed flow

I'd be tempted to stick it a bit further forward a la btb, the 2.8 system may have it further back just as a compromise due to routing issues.. that 2.8 x piece is one hell of a junction, it doesn't look very 'smooth'

Got to get the Golf finished, using the chromie as a daily is a ball ache, especially when I need to do some jobs on it.
Got to fit new track rod ends and new front drop links, new front tyres and get the damn tracking done. Also fit the new exhaust manifold and get it in for an MOT before that runs out.
I may have the use of a pike wagon next week as I've got to sell an Isuzu Rodeo for the gaffer as they've just bought a new Hilux D4D Invincible thing

No, go for a test drive, you'll soon stop looking.E30BeemerLad wrote:Is it wrong that I keep looking at VAG TDi stuff?
Before we bought the E46 touring recently I test drove a Mk4 golf 130bhp tdi, thought it was terrible compared to my 195K E36 that we'd been running into the ground for a year.
I drove my friends low mile Mk5 2.0 140bhp tdi, seriously intrusive and continuous diesel engine and turbo noise in the cabin.
Another friends 1.8T GTI Mk4 golf, more warning lights and electrical issues than was viable to fix!!
Mother in laws A4 1.9 TDI with a red i 115bhp? not long left with lots of black smoke at 180K miles.
Both my parents and a friends toyota 2.0 4cyl diesel both under 3yrs old both, both new diesel injectors and lines!!!!!!!!
I said:
Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

I'm going to start a new thread once things get going, but the drag car project seems to be a definite go go go.
I'm nursing a fat one at the moment as I was crying about being a poor cooont and not having the dollars to get a decent engine, but my local hero (who is going to be building the car- with me standing around more than likely) has a red top with hewland 6 sp sequential box he said we may use. I couldn't believe it when he said the red top is producing 800bhp!
That'll do pig
