The car looked sound on the ramp! I think it was the day/couple of days after Alex bought it. We had a poke about.
Front sills werent 100% but the rest looked solid. It looked like a car that had had some loving.
I wasnt buying it and Alex had already shelled out so i didnt look to far.
Missing the bulkhead rot isn't a crime if it was a honest oversight.
Alex wasn't made to buy it! Whenever buying a second hand car its sold as seen. The advert means nothing!
If it wasn't as described then it was Alex's job to unearth this before parting with any $$$
This is just fact i am afraid

sad but true..
it's the gamble you take buying a 20yr old car

like alex said i sold it to him thinking it was 100% sorted
unfortunately i missed the welding on the bulk head and i have appoligised for that
he had a electrical problem witch you sorted not sure what was the problem?
and then unfortunately he over heated the engine witch you sorted
i fully except the bulk head problem
but any thing else is just past workmanship from previous owners i dont see why you cant except that
in the end i sold alex a car for £4000 he sold it for £4600 so if i ripped him off at £4000 has he ripped the new owner off at £4600

I suspect Alex has put more than £600 into it not to mention the time and aggro and the fact that he thought he was buying a 22 Year old car for FOUR THOUSAND QUID which had already been restored and properly sorted - he's hardly up on the deal
If it was a Sub £1500 turd that would be a different matter as an amount of bodgery and bodywork issues goes with the territory, but for 4 Bags it shouldnt have needed any major engine or bodywork - especially not in one of the standard E30 rot-spots which everyone who knows about E30's knows about. To be fair Alex should have checked the bulkhead before purchase
If anything given the threads on here since purchase he's probably just lucky to have got the bulk of his cash back and could have done without the hassle.
I wonder what will be the first thing Alex checks on his next purchase before handing over the dosh ?

if you think the car made 4.6k then you deservedly live up to my expectations .dano0 wrote:like alex said i sold it to him thinking it was 100% sorted

I appreciate that you also put good money into this car - but as far as I'm concerned anything which means taking the head off is major given the standard and "whilst you've got it in bits" parts required and amount of work involved.dano0 wrote:rob

I got no problems with you, just saying that for £4k the only work it should have needed would be minor, cosmetic and would not require a welder.
Given the fact that Alex is a well known zoner and you would have known that the car and any faults would be brought up after sale personally I'd have made sure it was perfect purely to avoid a thread like this.
Sounds like neither of you knew about the issues when the deal was done anyway so time to move on

i am an mot inspector but i never said i mot,d this car so no i dont remember
i dont mot any of my own cars or my customers cars for the very reason i dont want to be seen as favorable or strict
my boss mot,s all my cars as i do his
but i dont see what you getting at. what was a mot fail ? apart from the welding witch could not be seen with out removing the fuse box or glovebox as witch your no you are not aloud to physicaly remove any parts of the car to find defects
im sure any mot tester on here will verify this
so what else was dodgy about the mot magpie ?
