Like Kos said... Pay someone.
Isn't Kos local? He also does cleaning from memory
Personally, I would use a jetwash, a good one, not your tesco jobbie. truck wash/engine wash, cake it up and jet it off, be careful of electrics though!
Then start with the toothbrush and be prepared to spend many hours doing it... Once you finish that you'll realise alot of it will still look crap and you'll want to paint your inlet and rocker. Always tidies a bay up well. Or buy these bits already paint...
What engine you got?
I may be able to offer such service.

sshhhhhh, some one will ask for traders fees lol
but yes i have been know to get involved with detailing. a good pressure washer is handy to have and so is a steam cleaner, and i'm not talking about the small hand held jobbies, i'm talking about the diesel powered ones !
to do it right you have to cover a lot of the cars electric components, this it self takes time. as does getting into every nook and cranny
but very satisfying having a clean engine bay

the amount of cars that have lost points over the years when they enter a show n shine event because the engine bay is pants is unbelievable
one or two have found me later in the day to have moan and i just pop the hood on mine or the winning car to show them how an engine needs to be presented.
it doenst have to be full of bling, induction kits and samco hoses, just clean and well presented
and if you ever have to work on the donk, you dont end up as dirty
