Please don't double threads pal
As for the crank, it's fine - there's a myth (not sure how true it is) but it's been heard that their rev limit is around 6200rpm otherwise it might break.

Haha, there is nothing wrong with an 'e' crank... nothing at all.

I've not managed to snap mine YET! The forged cranks from 324TDs are stronger but I think the ETA crank will be fine.
The cheap way to fit an ETA is to drop a 320i head straight on, swap the sump and all the electrics over and go drive.

Get yourself some lightweight pistons from the states.
Get a engineering/machine shop todo all the measurements to get you a nice high coimpression ratio of around 10.5:1
Do lots of work on a 325i head - ported etc similar to player6's head which is a piece of art.
Use a Schrick 284/272 cam
use megasquirt for fuelling and spark getting rid of the AFM.
You should pass the magic 210 bhp.

If ur getting happy with custom pistons, u could always go up to a 86mm bore... giving u a nice 2.8lt (food for thought with a 330i crank, u can bump it up to 3.0lt, and 2.9lt with 328i crank) or u could use some S50B30 pistons, and cut the tops down which would also give the same effect, as well as a 10.5:1 CR depending on how much ur head has been skimmed
