Have just bought a new cam for the 325 sport, it looks like I have the one for the car with a cat, and I am pretty certain mine does not have a cat, am going to climb under tomorrow in the light to check,,,, any way does any one no if it really matters or not???? as the other one requires another journey and more cash. I suspect I am being hopeful but hereÔš's trying!

don't think any uk e30s had a cat so what car do you think the new cam's from?
a foreign 325 or a different bmw?
also when you say climb under, what do you mean? if you want to look at the cam, take the cam cover off under the bonnet.

The cam is a new part from GSF and it is for an "e30 325 with a cat", some of them do have cats as I saw one last Friday, it was an F reg sport, at least I am pretty sure it had one, would not want to bet my life. Any way I am going to climb under to see if mine has a cat or not.

Cat was optional so there is a possibilty, but I can't see many owners from new ticking the box to pay extra for less performance.
I've looked at the ETK and there is 2 different part numbers listed for 325i so the difference could very well be for cat cars and non cat cars.
Toby I think he meant look under the car to check for a cat!

did all the 8.8:1 CR motors come with cats? perhaps the 'cat' cam is a bit hotter to make up for the slight loss in performance?

that's what I want to hear, but I would rather be certain. Does any one know for sure what the difference is?
