There's a steady creep of little signs that unmolested E30s (not just M3s either) are getting there, classic status wise. Recent examples: the Octane staff car 320i (cab), the Daily Tel feature, the James Ruppert book, the Four Star Garage ad in the latest Classic and Sportscar, the 'youngtimer' craze...

It's been posted before by others that we do a disservice to E30s (the nice ones) by referring to them as 'turds' and the like. I think the shape, build and rightness of an original E30 (two door or cab) is superior to almost anything else from the Eighties.

The Telegraph's "from £2500" notion can't be bad news either.
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps

Err think you forgot to mention Tourings in there mate in your reference to "rightness".

I would imagine the effect on the market will be simply to make it harder for Old Colonel to prise the keys from confused Blue Rinsers rather than making every tatty turd an instant classic.
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap :)
