Hi folks, I'm needing to replace a leaky and ripped hood on my project car. I'm looking for advice, firstly on where to buy it, where to avoid and how much to pay, secondly any tips on fitting.
Thanks.
Need tip on buying and fitting new convertible hood

New is exepensive if you need to get someone to fit it. I have been told it possible do do yourself but I'm not brave enough to try ity.
Pacerpete seems tro sell pretty good 2nd hand ones every now and adin for about £300 depending on condtiton.
Boyd (cecotto) knows somewhere near his garage in the lanarkshire area that can supply and fit new for about £500 it might be worth sending him a PM. He also occasionally has ones for sale from scrapped cars.

I'm not bad with the DIY stuff normally, very willing to give it a go provided I have good instructions. I think I would prefer to buy brand new. I have seen the material part of the roof for sale on eBay for £350. Ready to fit and with full instruction. It has hidden stitching but I was wondering what the fit would be like.
Its not that hard if you sort-of no what your doing...
I brought my roof from BAS international.... @ http://www.car-hood.co.uk/content.php?n ... 22&pID=110 - prices have gone up now but I paid £403.03 to be precise along with a tin of their High Heat resistance adhesive. (not advertising btw)
Along with some tigerseal/sikaflex, rivets and some strong grips you should be good to go...
Watch the BMW Service videos (theres 3 parts) - these will be the only instructions you'll need (and abit of common sense) as its not exactly like it is in the video with it being an aftermarket roof.
Apart from that you should have it done within a day....even quicker if you didnt fanny about like me lol - but seriously its not hard.
