Performance Friction PF06
Was recommended to me by a another member here (DJS325), who races E30's in Oz. A really good pad. Not much good on the road though.

Mintex 1155, great when up to temp and they'll never fade. Absolutely shocking when cold though.
PFC01. Job done. Should still be available from somewhere like www.bimmerworld.com - the 01 compound works from lower temperatures than the 06 compound.

I am using the PFC06 pad, its supposed to last twice as long as the 01 with 95% of the grip, endurance pads.
Working great sofar. Not good grip when cold(obviously) but alot better then some other race pads ive tried, very managable, very quiet, only gotten them to squeek a few times when really warm and going back to the pit walkingspeed, never on the road.
The grip is more then enough for commuting when cold and if you wanna drive fast just do a hard break or two and they are up to temp.
EDIT: a few weeks of having to use the car daily and the pads are NOT quiet, goddamn squeeling , not to recoment for a car off track just cause of the damn noise ;P

In my experience the Mintex FR4 pads are actually better than Pagids. They have lasted 8 track & race days and still going (the discs will wear out first). Really really impressed with them. Not cheap but as we are learning you generally get what you pay for,
I used to use Ferrodo DS3000's in my standard calipers and despite stating that they are not for road use I found them perfectly okay for driving to/from the track and two trips to the ring.
Excellent grip, loads of initial bite and last surprisingly well too!!

Not in an E30 but we ran some in my Mates Evo 8, they had loads of initial bit and grip but just didn't stand up to a couple of days of track abuse. They just "blued" and crumbled round the edges.

We ran a set of DS2500 for a year or so before the PF06. I liked them (a great road/track pad), however they do gas off a little after a few really hard laps (makes the peddle shudder a little). We only upgraded the pads from DS2500 to PF06 when we upgraded the front brakes.

We run Performance Friction 06 Pads, Awesome braking on track and acceptable cold braking in daily use, but Horrible Squeel and "Graunch" noise at low speeds.
I would reccomend for track use only.

Anyone tried EBC Yellowstuff on an E30? My mate has them in his track 205 GTi with a 190bhp and 266mm front brakes and reckons they are brilliant, but then his car is probably 200 kgs lighter than a standard E30
I have yellows in my 325 touring and about a month ago I spanked the ass off it up and down the Stelvio pass twice without a break inbetween. I was really impressed with them on the road and stop well from cold. Did my first trackday with them yesterday, and they were amazing no fade at all and bit really well with very little dust left on the dishes! Ive run ebc yellows on 5 difernet track cars of mine- Golf2, E36 M3, Mx5 S/C'd, E30 325 & Porsche 924S.
I'm happy with them for the price not the best by far but last ok for cheap pads, yet all have had the exact same issue-
Push hard 1st session & there will be an utter fade to failure point, pussy round rest of session park up then they are fine from there on, bedded in difenet ways & no matter what I do from new pads & race bed in, to road pad bed in few hundred miles procedures they all do the same, however 60 quid an all round set vs say 400 for the pagids I can cope.
They are all happier when im solo in the cars, run 2 up & they really feel the diference.
Pagid genraly considered the utter nuts in yellow, great in 36m3s i know form experience, just the price scares me, heard good things about pfcs & have liked F4Rs in m3s but prefer to replace pads rather than discs, in my pals m3 he did 2 sets of discs to one set of pads.

Thought i would digg this up from the past as i checked my pads today and from what i can see without removing them they look a lot like the above picture after one airfield day... the discs which were also new are badly scored and even though they work im going to be removing them before i do any more mileage in the car, so back to the subject im on the look out for a good pad thats mainly best on track but also safe on road, price is a bit of an issue at the moment so something for a round 60 / 70 quid would be nice .furbster wrote:Jackflash wrote:They just "blued" and crumbled round the edges.

Similar on the run down to Pouhon, into the Bus Stop and also for La Source.
I have no idea what the price will be (I'm not sure if this compound is for general sale yet) but will seriously consider them in place of the RS29s in future.

EBC Blues are an existing pad, they are "endurance race" spec. (Red being fast road/trackday and Yellow being "race").
EBC Orange is indeed a new compound for race use, and I'm looking forward to getting my mitts on it!
I just supplied some Carbotech AX6 pads to someone to follow straight on from EBC Yellows - be interesting to see how they do as a direct comparison. Carbotech are not cheap though!
