As for the colour, i had about 3 cans of it spare, and im running out of money for this car!

Running low on money is a fair enough reason to use old paint.

Have that colour left over in the first place needs explaining!

:o: it was from the Missus first car, a bright green Corsa 1.5TDi dropped 60mm on Astra Sport alloys

I'd brought a load of rattle cans to fix the boot and bonnet and someone piled into the back of it before i ever got the use them (blessing in disguise!)

Just a quick update.

Rear end all built, just needs the exhaust and bumper on, looking all rather nice :)

Started digging under the front carpets......... not as bad as it could be.
Gone through on both sides where the factory square bits are, again looked ok until i gave any brown bits a jab, there was one grape sized bit of underseal that was full of water, very odd
Some rust to investigate on both sides where the bulkhead panel meets the lower A panel, roughly just above speaker height.
Surface corrosion around the main wiring grommet, not as bad as feared
Engine bay scuttle where the bonnet cable comes out,
Gone through on the scuttle near where the heater blower is - does that U shape bracket come off?
Got a trickle of rust staining on the drivers side that looks like it coming from the scuttle/battery tray area

Need to get the wings off really and have a good look, running out of dry days and daylight hours tho

Bit of an update, been getting in as many hours in as i can on the car without causing a divorce  not really had time to take lots of pics

Finished the last (i hope!) of the welding, final score was both jacking points, both floor pans around the factory squares, bulkhead roughly where the plastic arch attaches, again both sides. Bulkhead around the bonnet cable, battery tray/bulkhead/top of inner wing area.

De-rusted the front scuttle and sprayed it up in the lovely warm weather we just had. Its now wet and orrible :?

Front valance to clean up, wings to protect & paint, few bits to seal and unseal and i may have it weather proofed in time for the snow to arrive

New back plates, shiny shiny rear arms, cacky paint cracked springs :P

A BIG +1 from me!

I admire your ability with a welder ect mate, its not something I've tried but definaltley something I wanna learn :)

Practice on old pieces of metal is what my dad's told me,,, he's brill with a welder so I hope that rubbed off on me lol. Could come in handy owning 1 of these

But well done from me 8)

I think goes to show that there are two types of E30 owners: Those who can weld and those who need to learn!

Update - not really, big fail! Came off my MTB last weekend and have had my arm in plaster since

Kinda fecked up my plans, had got as far as seam sealing all the welds and painting up the engine bay bits, so at least the car interior is water tight.

Fortunatly i'd de-rusted the scabby bits on the valance and wings before my off, managed to treat and POR them since and i should have them ready to fit once the cast is off, its bloody frustrating!

I'd promised Mrs TouringMatt id have the lounge plastered and sorted for christmas as well - im not popular at the moment!

Wouldn't having your arm in plaster make your welding a bit steadier?
