She has come.back from the body shop guys today where the number plate lights were the rust has been removed and an new panel has been welded and where the horse shoe seal sits on the drivers side that was rotten and has been removed and a new panel has been fitted there and removed the gay electric aerial and welded it smooth, it wasnt connected up so dont know if it works not fussed as i dont listen to the radio at all. Anyway next saturday waxoyling begins and and 2 very good 2nd hand wings and a perfect bootlid go on with correct mtec1 sideskirts and mtechnic stickers genuine bmw bonnet and boot badges new insulation in the bonnet and insulation where the toolkit sits will also fit 2 bootlights aswell and the rot on the passenger rear arch will be deleted treated and repaired Hopefully end of september my cab will be resprayed the same colour and tec 1'd!!! well excited!!!! what should i do about the spoiler

B. Tec 1 spoiler
C. Heck spoiler

these sideskirts on my car will be for sale in the next week or so in royal blue metallic, i havent got a clue what they are worth so if you know please help me out!! they are hartge ones not s.e or zender etc and i have been assured by penton 08 who fitted them, will be in the for sale section when i have them off. pm if interested

I did not fit them, I tried to liberate them from a former owner They are not worth huge amounts, maybe somewhere around the £100 mark.

It took me a while to decide on wether to keep the spoiler or not when my cab was going into the bodyshop and choosing to go spoilerless was one of the best moves i made with it. i would not have a spoiler fitted to a cab again.

In my opinion having a spoiler fitted ruins the lines of a cab!

removed the old sound deadening of the bonnet today man that is stuck on good the foam all crumbled away easily but the glue stuff was a bitch still got some in the bottom corners mainly in the middle bit. any one have any hints on how to remove it ?

Toyota own brand brake cleaner melts the glue but not the paint underneath.

Spoilerless or keep the Tech1 spoiler, all the others look crap on cabs. Will try and dig out some before and after shots of when i removed the spoiler from my old cab.

I got given it by someone at work who used to work for Toyota but i guess you should be able to buy it from a Toyota main dealer.

We have BMW brake cleaner at work (no good for the sound deadening glue removal) which you can buy so i dont see it being any different with Toyota.

tec 1 chromies look really odd without a spoiler even bearing in mind mine is a cab, i removed the tec 1 jus for idea purposes and it looks well normal, like its missing something! its not right, im stickin with the heck i think.

so it has now gone in to the body shop, basically my friend who is really good at spraying and prep work and little bit of welding, gave me a price i couldnt refuse to resparay the car so with my help we began today officially

so today we removed the front wings and applied filler over the welding that has been done and start prepping it, to my surprise (im not gonna lie i was shitting my pants) when we removed the wings they were totally rotten at the bottom got excellent replacements, any way the inners where absolutely perfect!!! so happy about that, any how heres afew pics of it looking abit sad but getting ready for a makeover!!!

no more aerial smoothed over and an odd bit at the back which was raised due to some kind of spoiler, unsure to be honest sanded down


the driver side where the main rust was in the horse shoe seal never got pics but it was bad but now welded and cured!!!


smoothed over the arch, now where you can se the filler going over the whole of the arch me and my mate were unsure how this happened but it had a crack from 1 side to the other so we fixed that

a random 1, the valance is off now aswell jus at the top where the grill meets and the valance seperates the bumper it had lots of small rust patches we destroyed the rust and treated it

so today everything got primered and got 4 layers of basecoat and 4 layers of lacquer, also lacquered the rear lights give them a "professional" finish, tomorrow we put the wings and bootlid back, all the new bits on then then some flattening and machine polishing ooohh it gonna be soooo shiiiinnnny!!!































thats with the base coat heres with fresh lacquer on. . .















the chrome rings around the headlights were peeling and in bad state so figured might aswell get the rattlers out and pisssccchhh piiiiisssssccchhh spray em up black, silver would have been too tacky would have preferred them in chrome metal like the e28 ones off the m535i polished em up and bling bling but nope these were covered in some kinda paint with lacquer so i glossed blacked them



today was 1 long day man, wet sanding and machine polishing hopefully tomorrow it should be sorted getting tedious trying to put the finishing touches on it. . . . Some more pics also waxoyled the inner and outer wings










This shot is of the heck spoiler we bonded it to the body instead of drilling holes because this bootlid is in excellent condition so didnt wanna start makin holes and in afew years get rusted so this was the best option. . .

and surprise surprise bilstein shocks in there!!!!! jut need to replace the 60mm springs for 40mm sorted!!!





here are afew shots of it with the heck spoiler temporarily fitted i think it matches my cab because its a tec 1 and the original tec 1 spoiler in my opinion was too big.









iv got some new mtechnic stickers new bonnet and boot badges and sound proofing for the bonnet cant wait to get her back!!
looking at saturday she will be back!!! looking proper fresh!!

got afew extra shots there, when to local bmw supplier today ordered the rubber that goes around the petrol filler neck area where the flap is if you know what i mean £20.33 that was but its gonna be worth it the other 1 was ripped and seen better days so in the bin you goooo!! hopefully tomorrow some wet and dry and possibly base coat!!!

i never touched the skirts man, brought them that way from adi, the were from a coupe iirc and were only slightly trimmed on the inside so they fit up nicely against the cabby sill, hopefully the finished product should look pukka!! im excited about this really looking forward to having her back and giving the inside a real good clean from the dust and crap,

if anyone could give me some advice on this next thing im gonna ask id really appreciate it, the current number plate lights are the standard bulbs the long slim ones , i want to upgrade to the l.e.d style obviously because of the brighter light and the life time of those bulbs now what i want to know is what type of led bulbs should i buy that wont come up on the check panel as a blown bulb, i know there is the whole canbus thing but i dont have a clue if i need canbus or none canbus or something totally different! any help is better than no help!!

Hey adi, yh man was wondering about the number plate lights, i wanted to know which ones to buy that wouldnt pop up on the check board as a popped bulb that annoys me lol, yh i hope i gt to enjoy it abit before it goes into hibernation in d garage! yh deffo gna take it easy on d polisher dont wanna f up d fresh paint! once its polished im gonna seal it with autoglym sealant that is really good stuff but i will test it in an inconspicious area first just incase!!!

Thanks for the skirts man you helped me complete it!! and i never liked the hartge ones that were on it at all. Cant wait to get it bk!!!

Lol yh man thats my current dilemma dont wanna buy some just to find ma check panel show a bulb being popped when they aint, something to do with the low voltage l.e.ds run on and the check panel reads it as a popped bulb so i heard something bout canbus ones so im wondering if they will work just wanted to find out if any zoners had any experience with them oh and coz they look so much better!!!!
