My suzuki is about to tear its gearbox apart, pops out of 3rd, 4th and 5th almost constantly, while the gearbox is being done looking to pop in a new clutch, anyone know a ballpark figure for having this done, looking at a recon gearbox and new clutch kit (not just the plate)?

I think its going to hurt my bank account quite a bit.

Can't you just get a known good secondhand box rather than paying through the nose for a reconditioned one ?

247spares.com job done. Gearbox will be around £250-£350 and clutches range from around £70 and up to around £100 ish. A place would probably quote around £150 to do it on top. So worst case its a bill of around £600, and best price would be around £450-£500. Pretty steep for a sorry Suzuki nail. I just hope you can get an eGay gearbox for a beautiful price.

Good Luck!
I'll check with the manager

it was a swift, and its now gone to the scrapyard in the sky, replaced with a 2000 'X' Reg Fiat Seicento SX which i picked up for peanuts, FSH, MOT'd last thursday and taxed until end of the week. Should be economic enough, supprised that everything worked, all electrics, runroof, remote tailgate release, central locking, unusual for an Italian Car, electrics are normally trashed.

mine is a lowly 899cc SX model with crappy boggo seats, need to find some replacement in due course. There is a slight leak from the petrol tank seam, going to fix that tonight, apart from that it needs a rear wiper motor, mine doesn't work all the time, and everything else seems fine. overall not bad.

And thats gone to pot, Found out the whole front seam of the tank had gone, good job i got it from a garage as i took it back for a full refund.

Now running around in a Pug 306 Turbo Diesel- Running on Veg oil and running very well indeed. 75% veg oil, 25% diesel. Saves 46p per litre and no negative effects on mpg, i am averaging 45-50mpg round town. (downside is it does indeed smell like doughnuts and you get very hungry sat at traffic lights etc).

Yes its totall legal provided you keep your recipts for veg oil and if you use less than 2500 litres per year you pay no tax on the veg oil either. :) saves another 28.6p per litre in tax.
