Beware of this seller, Dan comes across as a nice genuine guy but hes a complete con!
I bought a S14 Race centre section from him which he assured me was complete and like new.
I met Dan at Ace Cafe in the dark (yes my fault) only to be told he doesnt have the retainer springs needed for the centre section and will forward these on to me by post (ive never seen these!) to make the matter worse, the exhaust was badly cracked and was blowing, i had the pipes repaired at cost, and after highlighting this fact to Dan he didn't seem in the slightest bit concerned and i had to source the retainer springs at great cost.
This is a warning to all potential customers of his, make sure you get whats advertised before handing over your money!
I would never deal with him again.

This is going back a few years now. However this is a feedback forum and after repeated attempts of trying to contact Jhonno (Dan) via him mobile, text and pm's of which not a single one was answered or replied to, I told Dan he leaves me with no option to file a negative feedback topic (which he also ignored).
I completely understand that i have no comebacks so this is a Buyer beware notice.

How many know what?
Dan turned up at my house without the full amount for the bonnet, i then took a cheque which bounced
During this time, at every opportunity i asked for the springs, i could not source them anywhere, until i bought another centre section.
Why isnt Dan responding to this thread?

Probably about 3k spent with Dan now , Great guy, shit haircut but i think we all give him enough flak for that.
Dan is a credit to the Zone, end of.
Unless you have anything else negative to add i suggest you lock this thread and have done with it.
I think i've summed up the majority of Zoners views in this who know/have delt with Dan.

If Dan is so great, why has he not replied to any of my phone calls, any of my texts or pm's?
This thread was always 'buyer beware' nothing more, everyone else feels the need to defend him, i would if i had just spent 3 thousand pounds with him.
Im happy to lock this now.

I can't fathom why the two of you haven't been able to sort this out in 4 years and only put up a thread now. This guy has feedback and I see there were a couple of negatives years ago too. You mention a cheque bounced from a recent purchase so what has he done about this?
We encourage members to have their say on matters that may affect future trade. If it is a trader dispute then the FAO sticky thread stipulates that the second thread is used to resolve issues, not just to write something and ask a mod to lock it.
In this case it is a mod writing and then locking, which doesn't sit right with me. I would never do that and wouldn't expect it of the team.
This thread should either not be here at all, which means we need to chat, or give the guy the opportunity to speak up. He will likely be unpleased about an issue 4 years ago being raised but I'm sure will be sensible in explaining why if he remembers that far back. If you claim no payment for an item this also needs to be addressed and is at least part of why I am now unlocking this.
We can only lock when things get out of hand and I respect that this is possible, but we have to honour our position or we lose trust.

youve had an ongoing unresolved problem about the original deal 4 years previously where the seller wasnt responding to any communication yet turned up at your house to buy a bonnet in a second deal but ended up paying with a rubber cheque?
this doeant make sense to me on several levels.

This is a severe shame. 2 old school zoners for which I have respect for both. Helpful, knowledgable and all round, I believed to epitomise what the zone is all about.
A truly sad state of affairs. Lets here both sides.

Hello again..
I have been aware of this thread, however for various reasons have not got involved. However, it seems it is the appropriate time to add my side of things. Skipunda is right about many things. I was definitely surprised to see this thread and the content of it, if not least because of the time passed. I will try and recall it as accurately as possible.
Summer 2007 - Andrew did indeed buy an S14 Supersprint Race centre section off me. which I had bought as being 6 month old and seeing 6 trackdays. At the time of the transaction, the missing springs and cracked mount were spotted, but Andrew was still happy to hand over the money for the (expensive when new) exhaust section. Now I know it was sorted either way, I found and posted, might have been 2 springs, or I couldn't find them at all, can't remember which. However, it was done and dusted.
- Summer of 2008, Andrew had 2 lovely carbon fibre bonnets left from his venture, and I decided I wanted one. All very last minute, but a sale was agreed, and I was to head to his house to buy and fit it, no mention of any exhaust nor springs. Unfortunately, due to the time scales, I must have not been able to get the full amount out of a cash point. So £300 cash and cheque was agreed. Then I managed to leave my damn chequebook at home. However, Andrew very kindly agreed to the balance at Santa Pod, and lent me his roof rack and I was on my way. The remaining was paid up at Santa Pod 2008, and rack returned, jobbed jobbed, as far as I was aware.
Then we get to May Bank holiday 2009.. The Nurburgring Trip.
Here is me ignoring Andrew's contact and expression of discontent over our transactions whilst at the B&B near The Nurburgring, and Pinocchio's.. How long does it take for cheques to clear..?

Sadly I don't have pics of the times I've seen him at Ace Cafe since the transactions, nor of him driving my car in Germany with me in the passenger seat. At the time he said it drove quite nicely, but who knows.
The next time I even heard of our transactions was a PM in August 2011, stating he was waiting for the springs for the exhaust.. Which I believed had been fitted for years. Again, yes I didn't reply, but I have reason, and it's not guilt. His texts and calls, were 30 odd missed calls from a withheld number, and 2 texts, all between 1pm and 9pm ALL on that previous date 10th August 2011.
20/21st Sept 2011 his post appearing last night, and continuing today. Where now apparently there is a bouncing cheque involved, very much to my surprise. It was the first I had heard of such an event happening.
As you can see, from my side of events, I am slightly bemused as to why this thread even exists, if there was an issue, it is hard to resolve it, even over 4 years, if you are unaware there is a problem.
Regards,
Dan

Come on Dan, dont make your self look stupid.
You won the Race exhaust from an auction on eBay for £120, one week later you are selling the centre section on the Zone for £200 as mint and complete, i agreed to pay and collect it at Ace cafe, when i came, it was dark and I took YOUR word that it was in perfect condition and complete. You then told me you had forgotten the springs and you would send them on, you convicted that you had all four you just forgot to bring them, a week or so later I received a package with only two springs, before the package arrived i had sent you PM telling you that the exhaust was cracked and i had to have it repaired (which i took on the chin, but i was certainly not happy about) Im not bitter about you making a few quid with the exhaust, nor am i bitter about the £100 M3 suspension you picked up from a scrap yard in east london and sold it to goosiegander for over £1000
You can see the repair below;

The point is after repeated requests over the years the springs never materialised. (which is why im giving you bad feedback).
During the last few years, at every meet and at every opportunity i reminded you about the springs, at the the NR ring photos above i was there for my friends, it was highly unlikely you would have had the springs there since i didn't even know you were coming. With regards to your car, well i actually thought it was a nail, the engine felt weak and sluggish and the brakes were simply non existent, it felt like a well tuned 2.7 M20 (would you have been happier with the truth?).
Now onto the bonnet.
Below is a screen shot of the text you sent while on your way to mines - (I had to do a restore on my iPhone to get your number! Luckily i didn't delete the key evidence!).

You turned up with £450 cash and you were £100 short, which you wrote me a cheque for, the cheque consequently bounced and i received the final settlement at santa pod, the point of highlighting this is to show to everyone how flaky and unreliable your word actually is. Its not to prove a point at all, just a show of character.
I also made several calls from my mobile (which you clearly have stored) i sent you texts, i sent you emails and PM's to none of which you replied. I even tried to call you on my way home from work tonight, no reply.

The thread is about the experience i had with Jhonno, can everyone please refrain from posting rubbish as it will simply be deleted.
Over you Dan.

Its about the fair use of the delete post function, as stated i fully support keeping any thread on track.
When posts that do not violate zone rules are deleted with no reason given I do take issue, especially as I put more than two seconds thought into teasing Dan about Dave and his sister
Thats fair isn't it?
